A NIGHT WITH THE JOHNNY MARR ORCHESTRA

JM_2000x1125.f1ccbae~2.jpg

Get ready for a night of classics and fan favourites brought to life with a new, expanded sound as Johnny Marr takes to the stage with a full orchestra.

Known for crafting a generation-defining guitar sound with The Smiths,
Marr has carved out an equally impressive solo career, bringing his masterful playing to a new generation of indie rock fans.

In 2022, Marr released his fourth solo album Fever Dreams Pts. 1–4 to widespread critical acclaim, before touring with the likes of Blondie and The Killers. Now, he brings his live show back to where it all began – right here in Manchester.

For this special performance at Aviva Studios, Marr is joined on stage by some of the best classical musicians from across Manchester. Together, they’ll reinterpret Marr’s mightily impressive catalogue in A Night with the Johnny Marr Orchestra.

This looks rather interesting.

Seriously, just because Morrissey seems to be at a nadir in his career, they think putting Johnny down somehow reflects well on Morrissey. No it doesn't. That's a real "loser" mentality as you say.
We don't like him trying to sing the brilliant lyrics of someone that he openly dislikes.

Just watched Cool Runnings for the first time. Nice work John!

One of my favorites! The scene where they arrive in frigid Calgary is priceless. I love the practice sled they got to use too. :) I also liked how the whole hometown rallied behind the team, and all watched the events together at the local bar.

John Candy was wonderful. Uncle Buck, The Great Outdoors, Harry Crumb -- and even films where he wasn't a lead actor (like Home Alone), he really shined in his roles. He was also a very generous man, and had a loving heart. When we lose one of the greats, it's almost impossible to replace them (as it turns out, sadly).

I was in 9th Grade Spanish class (in 1995), and me and a buddy were translating our friends' names, etc. - and that's when 'Juan Dulces' was created. About a year or so before that, I had stayed home from school because I was sick, my Mom was driving me to a drug store about 5 miles away, and on the radio the DJ talked about how John Candy had just died. I get really sad when those who make us laugh die. When Robin Williams died, I felt the same way. So, with my username --- even in a tiny way --- I honor Mr. Candy, which he deserves. My childhood wouldn't have been the same without him. :D

And where are you finding out about this silly little concert? On a Morrissey site!

Oh dear, you’re starting to look rather foolish now, you should maybe do some research before posting comments like this.

Very true.

Marr rocks! The best jingler who ever jangled! He's also quite short. I stood right next to both him and Zak Starkey and towered over them. Contrary to the opinions/perspectives you may read about this comment, I do not play in the NBA, or the WNBA (even though that would be awesome!) :D

Morrissey-solo is the name I believe. Further proof that Marr is nobody without Moz.

The silly little concert is 2 nights at a venue that holds up to 5000 people and most people found out about the gig from Johnnys Twitter/Facebook/instagram feeds where he has almost 1 million followers across the platforms or the music press who have advertised it.

That’s hilarious. Which one is signed to a record label? Has management? Has a book coming out? Has a Best Of record coming out? Has a bbc radio 6 show for the next 2 weeks?

That is an awesome story about your user name! Uncle Buck is one of my all time fave comedies! I also love Planes, Trains and Automobiles.

Yes, I know all that you little dullard. I also have been a fan since 86. I just find Marr an intolerable little vested twat, who would be nothing without Morrissey.

And yet he's touring worldwide without anything you
Guess who can't do that without a record label

I think your opinions are more appropriate for this site, very strange to see such aggressive Johnny Marr fanatiscism from some here. Only time I cared about his career was when he worked with Bernard Sumner. Overall, find Johnny's attempts to sing and late stage clinging to The Smiths to be very embarrassing and artistically undignified.

Thanks! I don't think anyone else has heard that story before too, at least not from me. I am happy you liked it :D

PT&Autos is pretty amazing with Steve Martin and Candy together. The two of them driving the car that was literally burnt down to the frame is timeless, that whole sequence of events. Candy waterskiing in Great Outdoors is one of those scenes too. I'm happy anytime to talk about good stuff like this, so thanks for bringing it all up!

"Touring worldwide" and making a hash of it so far. I don't know how he manages to secure tour insurance. I am leaning towards Morrissey being some kind of Bait in a fraudulent scheme to accumulate ticket money from poor saps that are real fans of his. He gets a cut and a free luxury trip to Mexico City for a few days. Where's all the money from the sold out South American tour? It's a perfect set up, kind of like a rock'n'roll "Producers".

Wonder what this is, got the BMG logo, so maybe some new music as he played a couple of new songs on his recent tour.
Unfortunately I think it's just going to be the official announcement of a new solo 'Best Of' compilation LP. According to the recent podcast that was posted here a couple of days ago, his record label asked him do delay going in the studio making a new album, and curate a compilation instead to mark 10 years of his solo career. So probably nothing new - unless he does what Moz did with 'Greatest Hits' and teases a couple of new songs from his next LP.

Ah ok, he did play 2 new songs on the recent dates and he did announce that one called Somewhere was his new single, so maybe they will be included.
