Madonna was at Danceteria 16th December 1982 with her debut Everybody and that launched her career pretty quicky - hard to think a year later she would be an opening act?



Maybe one day she may tell us? It would be super cute if that happened

I saw that too but it also goes on to say there is nothing to have supported that claim.

In a late-2008 video making the rounds again recently via Dangerous Minds, former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr says Madonna opened for his band there in the iconic British group's American live debut. It's not entirely out of the question, but so far proof is lacking — to say the least.2 Apr 2014

Oh, yeah. I completely understand. I tend to believe it, though, because I can see and hear Johnny say it. I don’t think he’d make that up.

Oh, yeah. I completely understand. I tend to believe it, though, because I can see and hear Johnny say it. I don’t think he’d make that up.

It is a hard one as there is nothing else to support it to be found - so could be some confusion on Johnny's part - but would be cool if it did happen. But I think she would have left working at Danceteria by then? We may have to wait for the Bio Movie she is writing to reveal all

Will be funny if she does work with Morrissey though -
she could even sing some of VERONICA seeing that is also her middle name

I can totally see JM & Moz screwing up their noses though.............she was pretty raw in those early days

It is possible of course - her 1st album came out July 1983 so she could have still be working in the cloak room at Danceteria to make ends meet prior I guess. As Johnny claims it was the girl that worked in the cloak room

My confirmation name is Francis, but I don’t normally use it as part of my full name, though I should. It’s actually quite nice. I loved it when she went by Esther in 2004. Remember that? She’s done so much in her career - truly a remarkable artist and a genius.

Hopefully this will keep going in a positive direction and not tank like with Miley. I'm just so glad Veronica is back now as I love the song.
