He probably changed his mind about Madonna, the same way he changed his mind about the Ramones and Prince.

I'm in the minority here, but I can't stand Madonna 😂

Also, off topic I'm surprised there's no post about Quincy Jones.
I don't like her music either, though I suppose it's more for women and gay men.

Interesting thanks.

I have absolutely no idea why he would wear this shirt though. Apart from the fact that it's iconic and androgynous. And the photographer connection of course.

But combined with the Frozen video, it's very odd to me (given his previous Madonna comments)

In one of the photos of the shirt it looked like they had swapped out the head, but I can see from other photos that's not the case.

Maybe I'm just missing some irony or other reason.

He’s obviously separating the art from the artist.

like a prayer madonna GIF

:p

Great photos and Moz looks ace. His jewelry bracelets are top notch too. Moz should always wear a blazer. They were made for him, or he was made for them.

I remember him referring to Madonna as "organized prostitution" but then I seem to recall him later saying that he's come to admire her.

Wasn't the other way around tho? I remember he said that he respected her, during an interview in the late 80s, but in the 90s he said thet "organized prostitution" stuff. Probably I'm wrong :(

I am a Madonna fan & have all of of her albums and 12 inch singles too - she is the soundtrack to my life in a way - she writes ballads that are stunning & she has paved the way for many female artists that have followed. Even Miley & Beyonce have acknowledged this. She has done a lot for women's rights, particularly in the music industry. She is a smart business woman on top.

Madonna also has high regard for the arts & theatre. She has acknowledged Alain Delon, and has introduced her fans to great music like Nina Simone, and artists like Frida Kahlo & countless others. She is also very much an advocate for gun laws to be changed in the US due to all the shootings and I can see her sliding right in there with Morrissey for BOT - she would not give a rats A$$ as she is vocal on these topics herself and is her own person. I would not even mind betting that with her on that album a record label would want to pick it up.

In fact the thought of it just gets me super excited because I can see the Madonna fans jumping all over that and Morrissey getting some great exposure along the way.

Morrissey in fact acknowledged her in a positive way in more recent interviews & yes, Prince too.
Whom I am also a mega fan of.

Everyone has the right to their opinion and to change it - even Morrissey. ;)

Now the photos he has posted on Central - he looks happy in them and I love the flower spray on his lapel - that is soooooo cool ...................fabulous as always -

Viva Moz 💕

Yes I saw that interview too and was pretty happy at the time ..............I think it is because she has done the hard yards, stuck around despite the criticism too & he she has stood the test of time. We have lost so many of the great icons, we got to treasure the ones we still have.

Wow. I thought that was Madonna. I’m confused. I’ve been a massive Madonna fan since Borderline/Holiday. I fell in love with her when I was 13 years old. I’ve read the things he’s said, so, yes, it’s kind of shocking. It’s a great shock, don’t get me wrong! I think I read he went to one of her shows a while back. And of course, didn’t she open for The Smiths in New York City in 1983 or so?

Can one consider that perhaps Moz likes organized prostitution? :lbf:

I have never found anything to support that, even though they were on the same label (Sire) at the time..................

I looked it up just out of curiosity and found this from Spin magazine

I saw that too but it also goes on to say there is nothing to have supported that claim.

In a late-2008 video making the rounds again recently via Dangerous Minds, former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr says Madonna opened for his band there in the iconic British group's American live debut. It's not entirely out of the question, but so far proof is lacking — to say the least.2 Apr 2014
