I think promoters and insurance companies are just as important right now - the message is 'look guys - I can tour successfully without cancelling!'.

Or...

'I can tour successfully without cancelling!.... Until I get the record deal I want'

who knows if these shows will have any bearing on him getting a release with an established record company, for me he looks like hes enjoying himself and the crowds are enjoying the shows,in a years time we might still be wondering about bonfire and without music and wondering if we will ever hear them.will 2025 be the year when we walk down the street with new music on our phones or in our homes, who knows just enjoy the ride.
Yes, but it does feel sometimes, Gordy, like being stuck in a production of Waiting for Godot. With an extended interval.

Or, until someone in the touring party contracts dengue / injures a foot / gets too cold / there are unforeseen logical issues / there is mismanagement of tour funds.

it's great that he's played all of these shows so far, but it's a little sad we are heralding playing 6 shows in a row with no cancellations. Have we moved the goalposts this far for an artist we all love?

So sitting around in Germany, it bothers your life this much, that somewhere, elsewhere on planet earth, someone whose concerts you also once attended is quietly continuing to see to his own profession and to his own website and to his own career, and living his life as he chooses? This affects you enough that your first instinct is to leave a snide comment here because he posted some images from his current tour on his own website? Get help
It's very hard to argue with people for whom the Morrissey of today can do no wrong. At least I haven't read anything from you on the subject. I'm not just sitting in the dark of Germany with a vengeance. If you look closely, I have dealt with "I Ex-Love U" quite objectively. I'm still interested to see if he gets his act together, but he should simply refrain from promoting himself with such headlines. He never needed that up to a certain point. And just respect, that people for whom Morrissey could do no wrong in the 90s and 00s might change their minds at some point. Not out of pure malice.

I very well doubt that, he is still Morrissey, one of the most iconic singers ever.....and trust me they had over 40 years to see that he still sells out ......even after all these years....so no they are not waiting, they have to get everything in order, schedules, venues, lot of items to get in line. But right now it's the USA dates to contend with
He also loves singing his songs, with brilliant musicians, to handsome audiences!

I think he’s looking really good in these photos. His stance in the third one is so reminiscent of a younger Moz. Gorgeous.
Yes I agree, if you showed me those photos back in 1988 - this is what Morrissey will look like in 2020 f***ing 4, I'd have been cool. Fourth photo is reminiscent of his Viva Hate cover photo. Great to see he is looking after himself again.

The venues you keep referring to as high school gyms and tiny auditoriums are quite nice, some of them destinations in their own rights.

Have you ever been to a large venue where most of the audience stood standing (or seated) with those clear plastic cups of booze, getting a buzz on, disconnected from the stage show because of the booze and vastness of the venue? It can really backfire to go bigger. Sure, who wouldn’t love a bigger Moz orgy, but really now, Johnnie Ray, tell us: is bigger always better?

Seriously, what larger venues do you think speak the kind of success you have in mind?

I live in a town with a large coliseum in Greensboro, NC where BIG names used to routinely perform. Down the road, we have Charlotte in one direction and Raleigh in the other, boasting even larger venues now - both outdoor and indoor. No one really performs in these venues anymore except Taylor Swift, and truly most artists now go to Atlanta or Washington DC to these “little auditoriums” or auxiliary-sized venues you keep referring to. When was the last time you attended a concert in a huge venue, where was it and who was performing? I am curious, seriously.
I've seen Morrissey at Meadowbrook Theatre--an outdoor summer shed-Rochester, MI, The Palace of Auburn Hills--an NBA arena, Hill Auditorium, University of Michigan, State Theatre-Detroit, Riverside Theatre-Milwaukee, Fox Theatre-Detroit. All are pretty large venues, indicating that he was once able to fill large venues.

Seems like this is a people still care about me post because he probably has not been getting many record label offers. Perhaps? I don’t understand why the appeal for some of these untalented modern artists such as the likes of say a Cardi B. Yet the legendary Moz is still without a deal? It makes no sense at all. Hopefully this political shift away from woke madness culture will do good for Morrissey.

Maybe because he costs the record label more money than he’s worth? If the music industry was about talent and artistry, then, maybe, I wouldn’t feel the undeniable urge to permanently plug my ears with cement during my retail shift.

Smaller venues = bigger cut of the door
Smaller cities= cheaper accommodations
I'm just so glad to see him thriving.

“He should refrain from posting photos of himself on his own website during his own tour because I don’t go to his concerts and I don’t like his headline.” 🙄

Ok.

Yeah that's it! Or it could be, He. Doesn't. Make. Anyone. Any. Money. In fact, he is a money loser. He had a chance to be big, '88-'94 and briefly, 2004. That window has closed and the worst part is, he never appreciated how young, talented, and handsome he once was. He was on the proverbial cusp and his insecurities never allowed him to get over the threshold. He is what he is now, a niche' nostalgia act who is trying to stay relevant in a rapidly changing world. The end.

Indeed he was once able to do that. I don’t see many artists today doing that as we both once did, and that’s what I wondering earlier. . . Which artists have been filling large venues more recently, say, in the past 5 years? And which of those artists do you truly want to see and have praise for their work?

(Face it, part of this is about our society and aging. I won’t go into that here. Man, I’m just going to keep on enjoying Morrissey and whoever else I want to.)

Curious who you think would make a more 'successful' audience? Teenage Russian lesbians perhaps?

The audience isn't the thing.....to get his albums out. (and get some good reviews)..to get some tv appearances...do some mainstream interviews...the stuff that used to happen...that would be success now.

I am just happy for everyone who is going and having a good time, he can brag if he wants to, he hasn't canceled anything and seems to be in good spirits, annnnnnd is avoiding politics. Seems like a good step forward. I wonder if he was serious about wanting a place in Rochester.
