Morrissey Central "MORRISSEY IS NOT DIVERSE ENOUGH FOR BMG RECORDS." (April 12, 2023)

doesnt matter what he puts out it will still be called shit by the usual suspects on here, keep them in the big vault M, till better times.

Marr's career is on its way up? His music is mediocre at best and his voice is atrocious. His only claim to fame is The Smiths. Can you imagine him selling out the Hollywood Bowl as M has done several times? He couldn't sell out the Canyon Club.
It is indeed Norbury and M’s nose has been out out of joint by the signing of JM. The fact that JM is on the way up and M is on the way down (after a very successful and lucrative career) screams of jealousy and M should do the right thing and just leave it now. He’s alienated every record company and the odds of him getting the deal he wants have now disappeared. Just do a couple of Best Of dates a year to keep up with paying SER’s expenses and have done with it. He’s achieved everything he wanted in life, what is left isn’t worth chasing. Don’t ruin your legacy anymore. Please, we be

Nice cover. Still a token gesture that won’t deliver unto him a record contract, it needs saying.

You can insult Marr all you want, but he’s got exactly what Morrissey wants.

In what way is shit-talking major BMG executives going to help him get a deal anywhere?

Who cares, honestly? Selling out huge stadiums doesn't matter to Marr in the way that it matters to Morrissey. None of it does - his career is not his whole life anymore and that's a healthy attitude to have. Especially if the alternative is to be 60+ and still crying over the charts or the fact that nobody recognises your genius etc, etc. Morrissey is an absolute icon but his website considers it 'newsworthy' if his songs are played in the background on soaps. He will never, ever, ever be satisfied because he has nothing else and that is what is truly sad, not Johnny.

Yeah that's about right as far as Marr is concerned. He's more of a shoe salesman these days...f*** the big stadium gigs, selling shoes is where it's at :lbf::

He's sold all kinds of shit, not just shoes. Sunglasses, trainers, backpacks, the custom guitar, etc, etc, sponsorship deals... at one point he tried to launch a clothing line, I think. What of it? He does this corporate whoring for money and exposure, sure - probably because he is a realist when it comes to the music and knows he won't make mega bucks from small clubs. He doesn't really have a solo legacy to fall back on, he sessioned for a long time. I'm not sure how that impacts on anything I've said in my earlier post? JM manages to have successes (and failures) without having outbursts about any of it, and he doesn't act like he has been maltreated.

A vegan who is forever promoting suedeskin footwear. Now that is diverse.

At least that’s classier than signing other people’s albums and selling them for exorbitant amounts of money.

Good post, Dirk. Morrissey thinks he is owed something because of his past. He needs to stop resting on his laurels and dwelling in the past. Sad to see.
But then again, Morrissey has always been nostalgic about the past.
And while I agree that he could instigate positive changes as suggested by you, Dirk and others, can we blame him for not doing so and venting off his anger and depression instead, for not being able to adjust to changing fortunes and modern times? The current world is very demanding on people, on all of us.

Is Morrissey the horse and BMG the bear?

Or is Morrissey the bear and BMG the horse?

Or, are the flies the fans (us) waiting for the new releases from Morrissey that is being beaten by the BMG bear?

Or, is Morrissey just beating a dead horse by repeating the same old…?

Or.., are the flies us, saying to Morrissey (the dead horse), get the f*** up and release your shit online ffs?

It’s pretty clear he has nothing to say.

All markets Johnny.

What about condoms?

Then you could f*** the shoes!
