Morrissey's worldview "I'm for plain text"

"Morrissey praises the Brexit referendum, defends Kevin Spacey and calls Berlin a "rape capital" because of its open borders. seriously?"

Whether the Briton Steven Patrick Morrissey, 58, a musician just Morrissey calls, now Genius is or Schrat, self-actor or choleric poet, will probably never settle final. Certainly the man from Manchester, who became famous in the eighties as a singer of pop band The Smiths, is a great eccentric of pop. Whether concert or interview, he maintains the pose of the diva. The meeting took place on the occasion of his new album "Low in High School" in Los Angeles; It was arranged at very short notice and then postponed several times, domination gestures want to be maintained. After all, Morrissey is ready to talk. However, the photographer is referred by one of his managers rude of the room: "Get out of my hotel!" The Polaroid photo was taken by the interviewer.

An interview with Juliane Liebert

SPIEGEL: Mr Morrissey, in your new song "Spent the Day in Bed", you recommend that you no longer see any news. A serious proposal?

Morrissey: Yes. People should stop doing so for their own sanity. You have to stop. The news is just social engineering, and it's about control, not information. There are no more messages. Only control.

SPIEGEL: That sounds like Trump's fake news, but you just spoke out against Trump at a concert.

Morrissey: Trump has received so much attention, especially when compared to other candidates - Bernie Sanders, for example. Although the media said he will not win, every day, all the headlines: Trump, Trump, Trump, Trump! The American media helped Trump, yes, they first created it. Whether they criticize him or laugh at him, he does not care, he just wants to see his picture and his name. The American media have shot themselves in the leg. Since he was in power, he has exhausted the world. He grabs after everything like a little child. He is not a leader. He is a vermin. A huge vermin.

SPIEGEL: Do you think that he will be re-elected?

Morrissey going on about Trump, after he supported his European allies, and their ideology, has become the most ridiculous, gymnastic political reasoning that I have seen from any public figure. He's actually exhibiting cognitive dissonance as some kind of performance art.

At this point, he needs a mental health check.

"The clock on the wall, makes a joke of us all."

why does it take people 20 years to report these things, because they know there could be a pot of gold at the end.
Weinstein and spacey is the American Saville, bet theres a lot of famous people sitting in their mansions shitting themselves.
nice of skinny to get out of his bed on a Saturday morning to post on his favourite subject, lets hope he will be taking back what he said about JACKY,completely wrong.

I don't think he is wrong on JACKY. I wouldn't expect Morrissey to openly say this song was about the UK and Brexit (given a few of the lyrics in there). Interesting that the reporter didn't mention 'Brexit' being sung at the end of the song :lbf:

Forget all of that, what's more interesting is the fact that Morrissey apologists seem to have a decidedly right-wing take on everything. He's become a right-wing artist now. Incredible. Have fun with that.

Your witnessing what happens to the right-wing, when religion is no longer a feature of their platform. They have no moral compass. The sociopaths have taken over. It's exactly what the right-wing in America, and Britain were before the rise of the religious right: Money grubbing cads.

The right-wing Christians are now being replaced with Libertarian sociopaths.

it's hilarious in a depressing kind of way.No one forced them to abandon their supposedly righteous ways. They were just never serious to begin with. it was a front. They took a bunch of naive, socially retarded Jesus freaks, and raped them into non-existence.

You couldn't make this shit up. Actually, you could. It was predicted.

Why would he not be open about it? You may not have noticed but he has no qualms about stating his opinions. It's not about Brexit; the lyrics never supported this reading. Presumably we can expect a full and frank apology from our "moderator"...

Why give an interview to a German paper?

Slight over-denial about Jacky I think.... he can’t acknowledge that because he’d be in even more trouble with Scene 4.

The UK and Brexit are two different things by the way, and it's no coincidence that he sings Brexit at the end. Let's agree to disagree.

Do you honestly think sexually abused people hang around for twenty years before they report their abuse so they can share the "pot of gold" ?

Don't expect anything explanation by Morrissey to make sense, or to be revealing. His comments are confusing because they are inherently shallow.

We're talking about a guy who said Obama isn't a real black president; as if some white-bread English wall-flower who is afraid of everyone, gets to decide who is really black or not.

Even his pandering to Jews is suspicious because it was rumored that he made an anti-semetic remark toward Spencer Cobrijn. Spencer's friend, and band-mate said that the fax that put Spencer in a funk was "Your Loss Jew-boy!" Who would make that up?

Morrissey thanks making tone-deaf, pandering gestures toward black people are going to excuse his broader comments. It's transparent, and clumsy. He's being politically correct about all of the other issues he talks about.

What about his comments regarding taxes after claiming he was a socialist? Morrissey is a fraud, and he's proving it in each interview now.

I respect the German journalist for actually pressing him, and not bowing to his aura. He boxed Morrissey in, and made him admit things that he should have had the guts to admit long ago. This is how you should interview Morrissey. Otherwise, he says almost nothing about anything.

(Famous) People sometimes do bad things - SHOCK!

You do understand that he doesn't sing "Brexit" at the end!
You must be part of the minority that can't hear 'Brexit' on the live BBC 6 session, or on the studio version.

I'm the biggest critic of Morrissey and his political comments, but it was obvious to anyone who read the lyrics that it was an autobiographical;l song.

Even if he did sing Brexit at the end live, he's just doing what he normally does live, which is replace the written lyrics with alternative, spur of the moment rhymes, and ideas.

It's wishful thinking by Morrissey's newly minted alt-right fan base meant to influence the opposition.

Or maybe they're just trying to sabotage some confusingly anti-Trump "fag's" career.

It's like Libertarians who make exhaustive lists of so-called Libertarian thinkers who once mentioned Libertarianism in passing.
