He is a journeyman, nondescript, generic drummer who plays for Shakira. Nuff said. He's not even a footnote in rock circles.

I think he chooses the songs (live) which benefit his voice, so it seems that way. Like the story of Ali, his voice was actually best somewhere between Maladjusted and Quarry: his two best vocal performances I think (goes through a range brilliantly on both albums).

I think his voice perhaps limits what he sings now: I suspect he likes Paris because it doesn’t test him at all.

I saw him sing Who Will Protect Us… in Leeds and the vocal was astonishing. Making up for the dire song.

I’d like to see him sing ‘It’s over’ live. Best Morrissey recorded vocal ever. But it won’t happen. His Oxford Bags would explode.

He's a total crooner now. He stands still and delivers songs in lower keys. He clearly doesn't challenge himself anymore and his set lists are locked in for entire tours. You could say he is on autopilot.

He’s concerned for his voice at many gigs, I feel. In a sane world, that’d mean doing less gigs. As opposed to cancelling more gigs.

Cast your mind back to Live in Dallas, Alain did the higher parts of Playboys, so it's not new. I don't criticise M for this, it's preservation, particularly on a world tour, so not really worth getting bent out of shape over. That he has experimented with pushing his voice (YOR) is really great but some of those performances are not likely to be replicated live and for that reason. Is he lazy and too dependent on the 'classics'? Probably ..

So you don’t criticize M for preserving his voice, and yet you call him ‘lazy’ for (most likely) preserving his voice and not doing those ‘classics’.

i think it feels like hes turned a corner health wise,hes looking fit and healthy and the slimmest hes been in a while.there will be concerts because that is his job,he cant roam the planet for months at a time,he lives an extravagant lifestyle and that takes money.

Yeah, he does look healthy and balanced.
