Still here, still me, still ready." M

I am wondering what this re-birth and claims people tried to kill him are all about. He got equally dramatic about getting BOT back saying something like it was a bloody battle that not many would have survived.
The hyperbole is just childish and self pitying. He is a privileged white male millionaire, imagine if he had actually suffered any hardship in his ivory tower of indulgence that insulates him from real life. Apparently he has some complaints about growing up too, like he had to actually get a job or something then decided he did not want to work and mommy let him live in his childhood bedroom. (I never use the 'privileged white male' label lightly, because it's overused and misapplied, but it applies to him)

He said that people have tried to kill him off. In other words - destroy his career. That is 100% true and factual. His own part in any career destruction, of course, is open for debate.

His sister was caught twice trying to kill him. It’s written in Autobiography. Who knows how many times she tried to kill him and wasn’t caught.

There's a difference between trying to kill somebody off, and trying to kill somebody's overblown ego off. The intentions differ a bit.

Amazing he still hasn't understood that, in old age.

(edit) Also, surviving is what narcissists do. There's nothing to gloat about. I understand though that surviving in times of mass exctinctions must give an old geezer who can't really do anything quite a buzz. -Wow. Cheers.

Of course you would believe that, he also said he almost killed his mother with his giant head when he was born.

I wish he would have described exactly how she tried to off him.
I believe he said it was when he came home from the hospital after he was born. She was only 2, I don't think he is being serious. He actually made the comment quite jokingly.

"Once I am discharged from hospital, my sister Jackie, older by two years, is interrupted four times as she attempts to kill me, whether this be rivalry or visionary no one knows."

Morrissey. Autobiography (p. 7). Penguin Publishing Group. Kindle Edition.

Yes, he is joking, she is 2. Then he goes on to say he doesn't know if it's due to rivalry or she is visionary, obviously a joke.

Baby Morrissey already looks like he is plotting to take over the world here. Jackie obviously had to do something.

'surviving is what narcissists do'
really?!?
I thought surviving is what those with courage do?

Yes, *really*.

...Well, maybe Babee Morrissey had courage during his first few months lying in hospital looking like Frankeinstein's offspring and making the nurses jump with fright ("Jesus, Christine, can't get used to that one!") but I'm afraid it's too late to interview him.

I think she considered biting his head off, but it was too much work, with only two teeth.

That would be a lot of work, and his head is giant, deadly even

It might take even more courage to do the opposite; most don't. Morrissey used to make comments along these lines, but he doesn't much anymore.
Maybe it's because he has got older and closer to death, so he now realises just how precious life is. When we're young we take life for granted.

I don't know about precious. Life is nothing much to lose. Maybe he had more wisdom previously than he does now. Maybe he's finally conquered "the squalor of the mind." The result is, as someone has rightly remarked, Facebook Mom pablum: "still here, still ready, still me." Happy belated Birthday, Morrissey. You go, girl!
