Excerpt:

BMG Records have dropped Morrissey. Following the March 2020 release of I AM NOT A DOG ON A CHAIN
(#1 Scotland, #1 Poland, #3 Britain, #3 France, #10 Spain, #13 Germany, #2, #9, #17, #18 U.S.A. - depending
on which official chart you follow), BMG have appointed a new Executive who does not want another Morrissey
album. Instead, the new BMG Executive has announced new plans for 'diversity' within BMG's artist roster, and
all projected BMG Morrissey releases/reissues have been scrapped.

"This news is perfectly in keeping with the relentless galvanic horror of 2020," said Morrissey, "we would be critically insane to expect anything positive."

Morrissey is once again in search of a new label willing to release his music.

"My three albums with BMG have been the best of my career, and I stand by them till death. Recording them has been a pivotal period in my life, and I thank the previous BMG team and everyone involved for that. It's still important to me to do music my own way, and I wouldn't want to be on a label that dictates so specifically how their artists should behave - especially when the word 'talent' is notably never mentioned."

Morrissey's duet with David Bowie is now available on Parlophone via Warner.

"There are too many cases of successful artists languishing at labels who are no longer interested in them." Alistair Norbury, BMG.

Morrissey's Las Vegas residency remains in place for 2021.

Thinking about the mid-2000s comeback, how successful it was after seven years in the wilderness, and how it seemed to cement Moz as a national treasure.

All he had to do to keep that status was not be racist! That's literally all he had to do and his legacy would have been assured! Ahhhh, never mind.

It could have been left out, but since Morrissey actually does qualify as part of diversity it could also be saying the executive isn't fulfilling his promise.
I think Morrissey is pointing out that the term is being thrown about in the context of people effectively being sacked; if anyone is being inflammatory and irresponsible it’s BMG.

The only thing good in music right now is Morrissey. Morrissey is one of the few great artists left. Does someone like Katy Perry have the depth of music that Morrissey has?

I don't like it when it is looks and image over substance. I don't like the new Drill music. I don't like it when singers scream rather than sing in a sort of X Factor gospel pop style.

I call myself Art Tatum because he was one of great jazz musicians back in the day. Art Tatum made real music he probably wasn't that wealthy and he wasn't about image he didn't do satanic type dance routines on stage like Madonna. I like interesting artists that make me think. Artists that have lived a life and have struggled. Artists that don't have a big ego and are humble. Joni Mitchell is great her lyrics are great.

I question why some of these artists go into music is it to make money, is it to feed an ego, is it to get a girlfriend or boyfriend, is it to become famous and hang out with other famous people, is it to be hedonistic. Is it to promote a satanic agenda and other agendas that the establishment want to promote and comply to the world system. They don't want artists to rock the boat these days or to be different.

Yeah, some musicians are sell-outs. Art Tatum wasn't. The thing is, you can do what you like in music, it isn't always about sales figures. Certain people are paying attention. Some jazz musicians who have dedicated their life to what they do, irrespective of mass appeal, are recipients of the MacArthur Genius Grant/MacArthur Fellows Program. The prize is currently $625,000.

Musicians who have won the prize are:

Anthony Braxton
Ornette Coleman
Sam Rivers
Max Roach
Cecil Taylor
Regina Carter
Jason Moran
Dafnis Prieto
Vijay Lyer
Steve Oleman
George Russell
John Zorn

According to the article below, BMG are primarily trying to increase diversity amongst its own staff, as well as reviewing historic contracts for 'inequities and anomalies.' All this is part of an anti-racism drive within the company led by their CEO. I would think that Morrissey has seen this, put two and two together and come up with five.

From the article:

"“WE HAVE ALL BEEN CALLED UPON TO CONFRONT THE AWFUL REALITY OF RACIAL PREJUDICE AND DISADVANTAGE IN THE PAST WEEKS. THE TEST OF WHETHER WE REALLY CARE IS IF WE ACTUALLY CHANGE OUR ACTIONS AS A RESULT AND WHETHER WE DO SO FOR THE LONG HAUL. I AM COMMITTED TO ENSURING BMG PASSES THAT TEST.”

HARTWIG MASUCH"

Morrissey called the Chinese people a "subspecies". That alone is enough for BMG to drop him.

It's clear what he means and why he is using "diversity" this way, but you're probably safe in believing whatever is convenient as he does have a knack for never clearing these things up with a straight answer.

Morrissey very visibly and proudly supporting a far right party has quite rightly been given the bums rush.
Who in 2020 would want to spend money promoting the stench that is Morrissey.

Anything's possible. It's not saying anything really, it's just there like a Rorschach test.

It could also be another example of Sam's online filter just not working with Morrissey's life.

Not to be mean to him, but I noticed Sam brought up & scoffed at white privilege in the interview they did - that's more of an issue for a (presumably?) cis-het white man of uncertain career in his 30s than it is for an ageing LGBT+ artist, with people of colour in his band.

Trans is one of the most vulnerable categories & Moz's been identifying as trans since 1984. His depression is so severe it interferes with his ability to work, which would qualify him as a disabled artist - which is another category that is part of the drive for diversity & equality.

It's not his fight. He could use it or blithely ignore it. It shouldn't be something he's getting flack for esp from a sea of beardy bros.

Morrissey’s Central veers between total anarchy and ‘enough rope’. Imagine working for a record company and researching Morrissey’s online profile: (1) Morrissey Solo and (2) Morrissey Central. It makes The Sex Pistols seem like light entertainment.

he is also most likely on the autistic spectrum which is never talked about cause it is still a taboo but explains all of his hyperfixations like charts, meat industry and also troubles to understand others points of view and difficulties playing by rules that don't make sense to him

Congratulations, on a forum full of delusional retards you’ve now leapt to the top of the turd pile.
Hows that covid conspiracy working for you?
Masks vs science?
1% deathrate = pandemic?
What does the Guardian say? Do tell. Actually don't bother. I don't want to hear about Bennys man-flu.

If Morrissey can't get his own solo albums re-issued, maybe it's time to think about some more Smiths archive material? We got 'The Queen is Dead' anniversary edition three years ago and diddly squat since then - and in 18 months it will be the 40th anniversary of the band forming. Might be time to start preparing proper archival releases of the rest of the back catalogue, and finally spill whatever unreleased material in still in the vaults.

I guess it’s never been so transparent that a rock and roll life is really about playing by the rules. When the genre was important, it hid that fairly well.

I’m of the belief that these things are in a vault for a reason: it’s safer than a bin. I consider myself a fan, but I’ve zero appetite for the crap versions of the great songs I own. If The Smiths are to be revisited there’s but one answer. And in Morrissey’s world of shrinking opportunities it will definitely be crossing his mind.

Literally none of this is true. You may want to try a little harder.
I was at that Bradford show and it's 100% true that you were drunk, shouting, and inflicting yourself on other fans telling them you "run morrissey-solo". I later saw you fall over inside the pub and have to be helped up by two men, it was the most pathetic sight I'd ever witnessed.

wearing a bagde of a racist political party on live television was surely enough for them

I was just thinking the same thing the other night, when listening to the demos CD of that re-issue. Especially with the unreleased 1st version of The Smiths album still never officially released.
