Unknown Pleasures will probably show up.

Apple Music teased their top 10 today and according to the images, some of the top ten are:
Abbey Road, Nevermind, Purple Rain, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, gkmc by Kendrick Lamar,
Songs in the Key of Life and I don't know the rest of the top 10.

Here are some clues, I think

Terribly, predictably boring.

It’s like they read somewhere that these are the albums you should say you like if you’re not really into music.

The most obvious picks from the biggest mainstream names.

Is the lemon Lemonade?
I think the ivy is for Blonde by Frank Ocean
Rose for Amy Winehouse?

They have really not acknowledged the huge influence of the British Invasion in the 80s and even punk in the 7os. And my man, Elvis Costello.

I don’t think any more thought has gone into this beyond someone at Apple getting a copy Rolling Stone or Q or Uncut (or whatever magazines still exist) with a “100 greatest albums” list in it, and changing that to suit their own tastes.

Closer is the better album
I completely agree, but it’s hardly ever Closer that gets mentioned on these lists. Both are masterpieces, but UP is the mainstream choice.

10. “Lemonade” — Beyoncé

9. “Nevermind” — Nirvana

8. “Back to Black” — Amy Winehouse

7. “good kid, m.A.A.d city (Deluxe Version)” — Kendrick Lamar

6. “Songs in the Key of Life” — Stevie Wonder

5. “Blonde” — Frank Ocean

4. “Purple Rain” — Prince & The Revolution

3. “Abbey Road” — The Beatles

2. “Thriller” — Michael Jackson

1. “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill” Lauryn Hill

Thriller is obviously a true masterpiece and probably deserves a spot high up on lists like these, but this top ten is an affront to the history of popular music. It’s a pure piss take and a desperate attempt to provoke and be contrarian.

Next 10 are announced:

50. Hounds of Love, Kate Bush.
49. The Joshua Tree, U2.
48. Paul’s Boutique, Beastie Boys.
47. Take Care, Drake.
46. Exodus, de Boy Marley & The Wailers.
45. Homogenic, Björk.
44. Innervisions, Stevie Wonder.
43. Remain in Light, Talking Heads.
42. Control, Janet Jackson.

Janet 4cking Jackson 😳
