AM should definitely be on the list. Alex is a talented word smith with a very 'northern' outlook on life, and clearly very inspired by Morrissey. I think Morrissey knows that, which is why he made that line about 'not wanting to upset anyone's nan' when he said something bitchy about them in an interview. Some of their stuff is timeless.

Some more wonderful records in those 10, but I've never, ever understood the appeal of that Janet Jackson album (or any of her stuff). It just sounds so horrifically of its era, and overproduced, and - ugh. Maybe just bad memories, I guess.

We might see another Smiths album in the list somewhere - but probably not, and probably not a Morrissey album. I live to be pleasantly surprised. Although I'm mostly truly disappointed.

I think they should but not with AM, I think Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not is an incredible debut album, which is still the fastest selling debut album of all time in the UK. I saw them play a few times around Sheffield back in the day and thought they were great, unfortunately since Favourite Worst Nightmare I've not been too keen on anything they've released.

The aesthetic of the Arctic Monkeys, at least in the early days, could have been lifted straight off The Smiths' South Bank Show documentary.

'cause when Paul's Boutique came out, the Beastie Boys were
kinda considered to be a joke.
The only reason I got Paul's Boutique, was 'cause Rolling Stone
gave it a 5 star review and it seemed kinda intriguin'.
I ended up lovin' it, but most folks coulda cared less.
Then every once in awhile, ya would find someone else who
loved Paul's Boutique and it would be kind of a secret club
or somethin'.
Yeah, it was weird 'cause the Beastie Boys went from havin' a
super hit record with Licensed To Ill, to havin' a super underground
record with Paul's Boutique.
