It is now five years since the last Morrissey record release. On 20 March 2020, I Am Not A Dog On A Chain was released by BMG Records, who then dropped Morrissey. The album reached number 3 in the UK, and number 18 in the USA. No single releases were issued from this album.

There were 2 videos, 3 digital 'instant grat' releases from this album and a remix 'single'.
(Besides the album, selling physical products and gigging pretty much ceased during Covid).
FWD.

he should put out the track list for the renamed album, would at least let us know what the names of the new tracks are.

Moz should be trying to prove he has changed, but I guess it's too late.
i get what your saying but if he changed then he wouldnt be the morrissey we think we know and love.

Much like one shouldn't blame the child for acting bad when the parents are the ones to be blamed, I don't blame EL Jefe for Dog on a Chain (or Low in High School), he did his part -- he wrote the lyrics, which were very good-to-great for the most part. I blame the hired players, the songwriters, and the producer. Especially the producer. A more sterile record has never been made. Joe Chiccarelli really knows how to suck the life out of a tune.

Bobby, Don't You Think They Know is absolutely the worst thing he has ever recorded. It is so inanely naff. I have no idea who Bobby is and I'm not curious. Jim Jim Falls is also shit.

Some of these songs are like an arrow through the heart. Some of these songs are absolutely peerless. And the cover is a photo of his totally, completely beautiful face and smile. No record deal, YET.

But the run up to tour’s getting closer. Exciting. I’m getting closer. Very exciting.

In fact, the run up to tour’s very close. Tick. Tock. And I’m very close now, too.

TICK. TOCK. TICK. TOCK. TICK.

Chiccarelli's production I agree is 'problematic'. But I think it's still an excellent album in spite of that.
I agree but I’m also Gen X and prefer his classic 90’s lineup with more of that era’s alt rock sound. I think his last three records: World peace, Low in high school, and dog on a chain, simply do not hold a candle to any solo album prior. I get how some fans like the different musical direction of those albums. And I would be fine with it too if the lyrics and melodies were stronger. I put his last three efforts towards the bottom of his solo catalog right there with Kill Uncle. Fortunately from what I’ve heard live it sounds like bonfire is going to be more like classic Moz with stronger melodies and lyrics.
