Morrissey Central "WHAT HAS HAPPENED" (April 5, 2025)

The Web Sheriff (Los Angeles and London) are pioneers and leaders in online protection.

The Web Sheriff have indirectly contacted Morrissey having discovered an online campaign of fraud, disinformation and defamation targeting Morrissey. The scale of the manipulation is one of the worst and most malicious ever seen by the team, who have worked on similar cases for Beyonce, Prince, Bob Dylan, Adele and Radiohead.
The campaign against Morrissey is characterized by fake websites, impersonation on social media, identity fraud, and sustained harassment on Facebook, X, Twitter, Instagram - all social networks that Morrissey has not ever visited. Emerging online data is falsely signed in Morrissey's name in an attempt to associate the artist with false narratives designed to destroy his career. These postings date back several years. Morrissey has no personal presence on such networks, and has not ever possessed a smartphone.
The Web Sheriff's uncover will be delivered to the British Police Force's National Cyber Crimes Unit (NCCU).

Morrissey has been unable to release music in the United Kingdom for five years. His 2021 album Bonfire of Teenagers produced by multi-Grammy winner Andrew Watt remains unreleased, as does the follow-up album of 2024.
On May 31 Morrissey begins a lengthy European tour starting at the 3arena in Dublin. Many of the concerts are sold-out, and sales in Manchester remain just shy of 17,000. Seating at the Zenith in Paris has been extended due to ticket demand. Concerts in Turkey, Germany and Croatia were instant sell-outs.

That's very similar to my stance on Morrissey. I'm not an apologist. There are a lot of problems with Morrissey and his perpetual victim status and all the whinging that accompanies that. That being said, when I put the songs on I love them and they still speak to me. When I go to a live show I'm still moved by the entire experience. In the past few years I have been able to share the gigs with my 21 year old son which just makes things all the more memorable.
Love this message, I go with my son and daughter. I prefer it with the daughter as the son is usually smoking weed. Boys
Its beautiful to share these moments with the kids

He appears to have a phone in his pocket in this photo:

Weird that he's always denied having one. He probably loves being able to Google himself whenever he wants. I wonder if he prefers Spotify or Apple Music.
Not really, he has always pretended to live in 1942. The trouble is a lot of his fan base (not just American ) can't even see he is winding people up, joking or just image making
Loads of his fans wouldn't believe he had a gay experience or ciggy and they would call you a liar saying otherwise . Then the proof comes out and they act like they knew all along
This Karen sort is the only mental M fan for a sure

NME apologized to Morrissey for Morrissey misunderstanding what they said. Hardly a winner of a premise for a suit.
It wasn't even a retraction.

Interesting, from the WS Wikipedia:

Web Sheriff was hired by Prince in September 2007 to help him "disappear entirely from the internet. The star's spokesman related that "Prince believes strongly that as an artist the music rights must remain with the artist and thus copyrights should be protected across the board." "Very few artists have ever taken this kind of action over their rights." Web Sheriff announced it would launch lawsuits against YouTube, eBay, and The Pirate Bay on behalf of Prince if they refused compliance in removing links to his unauthorized photos, videos, and music. YouTube complied by removing over 2,000 videos from their site and eBay removed more than 300 auctions. In November 2007, three fan sites were given the notice to remove all images of the singer, his lyrics, and "anything linked to Prince's likeness". Multiple unauthorized overseas online sites selling merchandise featuring Prince were shut down.

In 2008 the company was hired by Bryan Adamsto take down fan sites and tribute bands as well as the owner of the domain name pointlookout.com that had nothing to do with the artist.
3 years ago web sheriff removed one of my videos of Bryan Adams , a video with vinyl playing on turntable . I had 7 videos of him, so i delete the others 6.
I hate Web Sheriff .

My first thought is that they an (in part) on overzealous army of copyright t strikers and people who'd go after fan videos bootlegs and postings- and even boards if they want to. Bye downloads thread.

Agree that this site might be targeted, depending on how vindictive the Mozzer is feeling on any given day.

I remember Prince (maybe through Web Sheriff) removing his cover of Radiohead's Creep from Coachella on YouTube. What's funny is that Radiohead said they want it up, and eventually he relented.

I appreciate that Morrissey has not gone down this path and has allowed fan videos and concert footage to live on YouTube.

Over the years many people have actually accused me of being an apologist.
And to all of those concerned, I'd just like to say sorry.
As an atheist who doesn't believe Jesus was the son of God, I forgive you.

"sustained harassment on Facebook, X, Twitter, Instagram"
Would this not support Karen's involvement? Especially if she's contacting over 600 journalist and the police and accusing his family and friends of "brainwashing" him into being far-right? I dunno... gets confusing.

Why does Morrissey attract these loons, can anybody explain? I've noticed both on SM and in real life that Johnny Marr's fanbase for example all seem to be normal people with a reasonable grasp on sanity. Yet Morrissey winds up with the Taylor Swift level addicts and gatekeeping weirdos who spend every penny on following him around the world or tattooing his every utterance across their buttocks.

Johnny's not the one who has been out here alleging massive conspiracy and suppression narratives since the beginning of his career. I think that's part of it. Morrissey genuinely seems to believe that nefarious forces have always been working against him, chiefly because of his intelligence and truth telling, for which he is alone in popular music. I think that can attract a level of devotion and similarly conspiratorial fans. Hell, look at Russell Brand

The other part about it is I think most people responded to the Smiths and Morrissey and The Smiths music because of the lyrics and the dramatics of the Melody and stage presentation. I think that also leads to a level of earnest devotion, the songs that save your life kind of narrative then Johnny just keeping his head down, making his music, and releasing albums Even if one finds his music and other bands and his solo stuff to be skillful and worth the listen, they're probably not emotionally imprinting as heavily on the dramatic presentation of Moz's stuff you can also the lead singer who is also the lyricist probably attracts the most attention
