The Web Sheriff (Los Angeles and London) are pioneers and leaders in online protection.

The Web Sheriff have indirectly contacted Morrissey having discovered an online campaign of fraud, disinformation and defamation targeting Morrissey. The scale of the manipulation is one of the worst and most malicious ever seen by the team, who have worked on similar cases for Beyonce, Prince, Bob Dylan, Adele and Radiohead.
The campaign against Morrissey is characterized by fake websites, impersonation on social media, identity fraud, and sustained harassment on Facebook, X, Twitter, Instagram - all social networks that Morrissey has not ever visited. Emerging online data is falsely signed in Morrissey's name in an attempt to associate the artist with false narratives designed to destroy his career. These postings date back several years. Morrissey has no personal presence on such networks, and has not ever possessed a smartphone.
The Web Sheriff's uncover will be delivered to the British Police Force's National Cyber Crimes Unit (NCCU).

Morrissey has been unable to release music in the United Kingdom for five years. His 2021 album Bonfire of Teenagers produced by multi-Grammy winner Andrew Watt remains unreleased, as does the follow-up album of 2024.
On May 31 Morrissey begins a lengthy European tour starting at the 3arena in Dublin. Many of the concerts are sold-out, and sales in Manchester remain just shy of 17,000. Seating at the Zenith in Paris has been extended due to ticket demand. Concerts in Turkey, Germany and Croatia were instant sell-outs.

Since I am interested in the legalities of this (I am following 2 local defamation cases) I think this means they raised what we would call an affirmative defense regarding statute of limitations, which the judge denied because Morrissey had a credible reason for the 3 year delay - he said his management had left him in debt. I did not know he had those financial troubles then.

It doesn't matter why he said it, it's racist. He could have simply said The way the Chinese treat animals is horrifying and needs to stop. Instead, he denigrated an entire race of people based on something he subjectively disapproved of. Not all Chinese live in China and not all Chinese treat animals like that and some people do not share his opinion at all. It was not an objective fact.
So is it like when you said ‘black men are violent’ denigrating an entire race of people? Surely not all black men are violent?

Bingo. People settle after pre-trial conferences all the time, for reasons completely unrelated to whether or not they think they will lose.

Yes, it's true. People even settle after they go to trial before a verdict. As a matter of fact, pre trial conferences is where settlement is discussed, not that you can't do it on your own for whatever reason. NME was asked to issue and apology, they did not pay damages or M's attorney fees, and damages were not even asked for, because there probably wasn't any. The apology was to shut them up, the very reason for a SLAPP suit. They had to pay something for the dismissal they asked for due to M's delay in filing after the statute of limitations, that's it

No, most probably because they were advised they would lose. The case went to a pre-trial hearing. If it was all about avoiding legal costs, they would have apologised well before it got to that stage.
Or they could have realized thaat as a music publication doesn't make much sense for them to be an unnecessarily adversarial position with someone that they would want to interview again get press access for coverage for live shows album releases whatever for a guy who was in the midst of the mid 2000s resurgences and popularity and acclaim. You assume you're analysis is the only one possible And that's a pretty narrow possibility

There's more than a hint of hypocrisy in calling out Malarkey for moaning about this website while moaning about Malarky and copying and pasting her Twitter comments on this website.

Just a big circlejerk at this each other. Boring wankers feeding off one another's fixations.
They’re all a teddy bear short of picnic. Psycho pricks

Ha! That ship had long sailed (albeit for a second time).

In 2025, to say that M has never owned a smartphone is one of the most unbelievable claims of the entire Smiths/Morrissey history. All other details above aside, it strains credulity beyond breaking.

With fans like this, who needs enemies? Lots of trolls here who really should “do one”. Our society is full of bullies who think it’s funny to post Karen memes and call anyone who disagrees with them “far right”. What a load of testicles!!! So glad to hear that our Mozza is finally sticking up for himself. Reply with all the laughing emojis you want. That’s a form of bullying too. “It takes guts to be gentle and kind…”

Even the word is obsolete as all phones are 'smart' now. I do love the idea of a multi-millionaire walking around with a Nokia 3410, though. Fighting the modern age to the bitter end :lbf:

We're getting into Trumpian territory here. The paranoia is manifest. And the wording is precise. "Websites Morrissey has not ever visited". And yet has presences there. We are into semantics. It's pathetic.
Sorry now but you hate Moz so much for so long that your presence here in pathetic. Are you trying to convert others? I'm sick of reading your shit. I'm far from a Moz apologist and have been critical of him at times but your ongoing slew of vitriol has gone on too long. It's not fair to the rest of us. Free speech and all but change the bloody record now and again.

I still think it could be Uncle Skinny. It makes perfect sense. He wants to fight Nazis so posting stuff everywhere that Morrissey is one is a good way to have a Nazi to fight.

I just wish Uncle Skinny would fight some real Nazis and real Trump. We need all the help we can get, not just in America but globally.

Morrissey: England should stay English

The Press: You're far right. You're canceled.

MAGA: If you are brown you're deported or incarcerated, both if we can arrange it. If you're a woman you should be making babies and if you make one and don't bring it to term you are a criminal. DEI is illegal and is reverse-racism. Gay marriage should be illegal. Trans people aren't real. All government jobs except the military should be terminated. Tax breaks for the billionaires because plutocracy is far better than democracy. Health care, shelter, food and education are NOT basic human rights. Voters who oppose us should not be allowed to vote. We will pay you to vote for the judge we want. It should be illegal to criticize the president. And so on and on and on.

Uncle Skinny: Morrissey is the biggest problem in the world for me personally. I will spend every day following every thing he does or says and post negative things any chance I get.

That's very similar to my stance on Morrissey. I'm not an apologist. There are a lot of problems with Morrissey and his perpetual victim status and all the whinging that accompanies that. That being said, when I put the songs on I love them and they still speak to me. When I go to a live show I'm still moved by the entire experience. In the past few years I have been able to share the gigs with my 21 year old son which just makes things all the more memorable.
