Whatever the sequence of events, there is no doubt that M viewed DJ with the utmost love and respect. Thanks to M, I got to see the New York Dolls at Meltdown 2004 and DJ at the Troxy, supporting M in 2023. Rest in Peace, you were an icon and a trailblazer.....

i went to that gig , in a bigtop and the night after in Dublin , saw the dolls at Move festival and two more times at a local venue to me in Newcastle uk
brilliant every time
 
I was so sad to hear about David`s passing. May his family and friends find peace in this difficult time. My condolences to them.

The only people who enjoy Morrissey's death obsession are the people who are just as or more mentally ill than he is. Enjoy.
 
Jeez, Morrissey no doubt is considered a 'friend of the family' and was informed of David's passing. I can't imagine the family wanted it kept secret in any way and were absolutely fine with Morrissey giving a very brief expression of condolence on his website. They would have had more important things on their mind than immediately informing the media. Some people seem to be wanting to create a problem with Morrissey's post where none exists.
David is at peace now after what I'm sure has been a terrible few months. Hope his family are able to find some comfort. Cancer is cruel.
 
So very sad to hear the news about David Johansen. A beautiful man and a huge influence to many, the music and style of the New York Dolls gave many people the confidence to be who and what they wanted to be. Thinking of All who loved him x

So according to you, a "death obsession" is when a man publicly announces the passing of a friend and lifelong personal hero?
