gustavo shared the lyrics for headache during a morrissey meetup in highland park this morning. gus was on his way to the waistcoat hut on fig for some some last minute tour apparel but he had time to say hi and drop this on us. the lyrics are brilliant and some of morrissey's best work to date. enjoy! i can't wait to hear it during morrisseyoke soon.

Headache

Verse 1:
You know my pedigree
My CV's pristine
But the music business is cruel
A sewage filled swimming pool
I've sent out my songs with hope and pride
Only to be binned rubbish curbside

Verse 2:
My head aches
Oh, it's such a shame
It’s utter heartbreak
Oh, no it’s a game
I’ve got a splitting headache
Let’s play a fun game
No, wait, it’s that stabbing pain again
It’s a jittery head shake
A career full of retakes
My belly aches
From all the fruitcakes
While my music survives
The final outbreak

Chorus:
Nobody wants me
I'm lost in a syrupy sea of uncertainty
My pockets are linty, my dreams are on hold
Will I ever release music worth its weight in gold?
Oh, oh, oh, the same old headache

Verse 3:
My head breaks
Was it worth the fame?
I barely can stutter “headache”
And point to my brain
I’m pumping the brakes
To all the clambakes
I’m done with fake handshakes
With all of my mistakes
Oh, the headache
Oh, my head aches
Oh, the headache
Nobody wants me
I'm lost in a syrupy sea of uncertainty
My pockets are linty, my dreams are on hold
Will I ever release music worth its weight in gold?

And you think these are great lyrics!? Please tell me this is a joke. Please.

This is a joke, don't worry 🤣

We know Morrissey loves rhyming, so I've been trying to think what rhymes with 'Boulevard'.
Maybe something like?:

Strolling down the boulevard
With my best friend Everard
I was feeling hard
So was he

Oh, boulevard, boulevard
Let down my guard
Record didn't come out
Times are hard

Oh, boulevard, boulevard
Your trees sway with the breeze
Jesse sees me sob
Can't navigate this life with ease

Oh, boulevard
Oh, boulevard

My life:
So scarred

Oh, boulevard, boulevard
Let down my guard

Rumour has it, that "Headache" begins like this:

This wrinkle in art, I can't give it no credit.
I thought about my life and I really got me down. (Got me down!!!)
Got me so down, I got me a headache.
My heart is caged in my cranium and it still knows how to pound.
I was counting sheeps
And I fell me into sleep...

Please, Moz, release the album so that we don’t have to suffer anymore of these unspeakably unfunny joke lyrics that your “fans” tirelessly post, trying to mimic you, but ending up only mimicking retarded children.

OK, must try harder:

Verse

Hunchback Jack in the fire
Bells chiming - oh my burning desire
Cracking wood, it's understood

Bridge

Monstrance or monster?
Centuries-old spirits unleashed
I kiss the cross, I eat the wafer

Refrain

In Notre-Dame
My heart died
In Notre-Dame
(howling backing vocals by Alain here)

Come on @Gregor Samsa it's not that bad!
I would never have presumed to imitate Morrissey in his prime, but since "Bobby", even the most awkward poet can give it a try.
Your latest contribution was fine. Good, even. It’s just the very idea of imitating Morrissey in such a “wacky” way.

I don't even want the song to sound anything like that @all, and the madness here breaks through either way. So why not take some pleasure in it?

I don’t have a particularly wacky sense of humor. I equally hate those fake Morrissey letters/columns that some magazine or newspaper have printed for laughs a few times, the last one a while back. It’s not funny and it’s certainly not clever. But by all means, fill your boots. I’m just thinking out loud.

I don't expect you to like it or celebrate it, but then you should possibly realise that some here are expressing their dissatisfaction with his recent lyrics through such "fake lyrics". It would be nice to be convinced of the opposite after 10 hard years.

I’m with you on that, definitely. The lyrics of the past nine years or so have mostly been appalling compared to those that came before. Lazy, distasteful, crude and/or cold.

Yes, that is also the content or the goal of such sarcastic exaggerations here. Some people can deal with it, others say you're just critical and don't see anything positive anymore, but you said it yourself: Where is the warmth and empathy (with a few exceptions) for the listener in Morrissey's increasingly strange lyrics? Can I, as a listener, be completely immersed in his love for Israel if I have never been there and it doesn't affect my everyday life? Do I have to like the (pour mois) completely meaningless rhymes in "Bobby"? This song in particular triggered a lot of anger in me. Morrissey sounds like he should never sound in his artistic life and makes this the lead single of Dog. How far is this from TMYIMTCIG, whose charm picked everyone up with subtlety? Don't tell me I'm making it easy when post-2010 Morrissey makes it anything but easy.

I have nothing against the criticisms or the motifs behind the hokey joke lyrics. I just find them terribly unfunny and meaningless. I totally agree with you regarding modern day Morrissey’s lyrics, however.

Age. Old. It's simply about getting old. It's what happens. You get old. You get less patient. People annoy you because you're old and it's what happens. Tired? Physically, sometimes, but there's a tiredness of the spirit that descends and it's difficult to shake off - mainly because you're old, and it's what happens.
