Morrissey Central "New keyboard player." (May 6, 2023)

Camila Grey will play keyboards on the forthcoming Morrissey tour of Israel / Ireland / England.

No surprise.
FWD.

Well he wouldn’t say that, wouldn’t he?

Alain said ‘See you in Dublin’ in that same week, so his exit definitely wasn’t planned.

He would never be again
A Dublin dancer, free and young

To clarify, and I can only speak of AW’s IG account, richard Petty not only blocked people from his personal account before taking it private, but also blocked some (including Alain’s) from the official Morrissey IG. One more thing to add to the list of things M is in the dark about. The kind of issue of how things are run that is at least partly to blame for why fans will be deprived of the services of AW & GMjr. As others have noted, the behavior is shameful. It’s my understanding that both Al & Gus are both on good terms with M to this day. Perhaps left with a sense of bewilderment over certain choices, but good just the same. Again, not putting words in their mouths. Just sharing how I interpret the situation based on what I know.
But why does nobody tell him that then? It seems so strange, that longstanding band members leave and the boss doesn't know why when it's that rotten in the basic structure.

The eternal second, unpopular guitarist stands in the blind spot of the ivory tower's entrance area, jamming together with a gruff tour manager to eliminate or bully anyone who wants to wake the old, tired king from his long long sleep.
He has rolled up his sleeves and makes an unattractive face. The king doesn't care.

So will these new female members contribute to the songwriting in the future? Although with two unreleased albums in limbo, perhaps that's not really a relevant question right now.

It seemed an appropriate monicker, with emphasis on the surname, considering the unwarranted, but consistent actions. Possibly provides a hint of insight as to the types of things that led to good people leaving the band with the likelihood others will follow at some point.

That's intolerable. The tour manager shouldn't be breaking up the band & certainly not after successful gigs that were helping to end an extremely difficult career patch.

Can you post any links so we can have a listen as there's not much on Wiki about her. Found this song from when she was in Uh Uh Her, which sounds ok.

The video could have been produced by Morrissey's nephew, only then the girls would have less clothes on. The music is the kind of vacuous indie pop that's been thrown on the market for over 25 years, and it doesn't attract a dog from the stove. But damn, more diversity and indie pop with electro influences designed on the drawing board: the record companies could queue up for a 64-year-old. Good idea, second guitarist!

For people who think "Never Again Will I Be a Twin" was a good idea.

For all we know the new band lineup may usher in a new golden age and contain the best co-writers since Marr. That said, it's hard not to feel depressed that Alain - a guy with a track record of writing some absolute classics - has been jettisoned again after such a brief return, whilst eternal chancer Jesse clings on like a particularly stubborn dangleberry.

Morrissey seems to be in some stubborn denial about Jesse’s poor guitar skills (which especially reveals itself live) and toxic behaviour towards the other bandmates. It does surprise me that he hired someone like this and has kept him for so long when he could have much more talented musician and less problematic person. Surely there are lots of people fitting this criteria in LA and not only. Maybe he is, indeed, under some sort of spell like the King of Rohan Theoden who was in a deep mental and emotional sleep Someone has to wake him up before it is too late…and it won’t be easy. Jesse wants to be the part of Morrissey’s legacy because without it he is nothing. Just a mediocre guitarist who also appears to be not a very nice, insecure and bitter person. He became a music director. Now his aim, what, is to be one and only songwriting partner? To have as much acknowledgment as possible? But it won’t make the majority of fans like him more or remember him fondly

Hypothetically speaking, how do we think Moz and Jesse would react if, at the forthcoming gigs, a section of the crowd started singing the 'Morrissey' football chant but with the words 'Alain Whyte'?

A classic Morrissey line-up doesn't need a keyboard player anyway.
Yes, but an all-around musician/vocalist like Gustavo - that's hard to come by. He added so much to the live band, and helped shape new directions for Morrissey's music in general.

If Gustavo is indeed gone, his presence is guaranteed to be missed. I don't know how the Morrissey Band was even lucky enough to get GM in the first place, but the music has had a new freshness to it since he arrived.

If I was in Spain right now, I'd be MAD in Madrid.

In any case, and for whatever the reasons....here's to Alain and Gustavo's new project together!

Matt Walker and Gustavo made the 'new band', straight up. If Matt W. was leaving...then we get Alain back --- okay, that's a 'fair enough' trade (because w/Boz now gone we would at least need Alain's songwriting, and you can't deny his great voice too, and Morrissey's music does not require a super-talented Steve Gadd-esque drummer). However, now the remaining beauty of the 'new band' (what made them special/unique) has truly faded (or surely will if Gustavo leaves).

Another hard hit. :(

It's probably simply a matter of personal loyalty, since he seems to consider Jesse a close friend.
And if Jesse is indeed hostile towards other band members, it's likely not something which happens in front of Morrissey.

It pains me to defend Jesse but really, he is the monkey in this situation not the organ grinder. If he is even half as hostile and difficult as these posts suggest and Morrissey is refusing to see that even though it has just cost him his entire band, well, that's on M. He is ultimately in control.

Nothing I have read or heard about Morrissey suggests that he has ever been naive or an easy mark for manipulation, let alone asleep at the wheel. If anything he is naturally suspicious and prone to paranoid thoughts (eg. his fantasy about Joe Moss plotting to replace him). He has always had half an eye on 'business', on band members who might be trying to 'grab the crown', as he called it, and he wasn't oblivious to rivalry between Boz and Alain back in the day so why would he be oblivious now?

Since 1983, the Morrissey 'way' has been that if someone falls foul of him, they're gone. No matter who they are. People who prize autonomy like that don't just sit and let someone else take over the show - even Johnny never got to overrule Morrissey's decisions and consequently he had to fire half his friends. Whatever Jesse is doing, either

a) Morrissey knows about it and is fine with it
b) He knows there is a problem but is too dependent / no longer has any other intermediary in the band who could help sort it out
c) He is being fed some very creative "alternative facts" to explain this situation and when he realises, all hell will break loose and you will not see the two musketeers for dust.
