I'd love to know if the non release of albums was a factor. As co writers, I imagine they were expecting royalties to fund the pension pot.

There’s not much money to be made of royalties nowadays I’d imagine… though maybe still a decent amount? I’d expect most of the money would be made from live shows.

Now, if you (co)wrote a song you would naturally want to see it released, instead of languishing in the vaults somewhere. Not just for money but for the sake of artistic satisfaction and reputation.

That said, Alain at least was in that situation for years with the Quarry songs so it would hardly have been a surprise to him.

Yeah, I'm not entirely opposed to change. But first on the list to go should be Jesse, who has outstayed his welcome by at least a decade. If Moz is going for wholesale change he should dump the lot. Sam and Fiona can take a hike whilst he's at it.

Are you saying it that way because you think it frames Morrissey in a superior light? Granted what we've heard isn't necessarily "gospel" but it's that the musicians left out of unhappiness and frustration.

The announcements come off more as saving face since they don't mention anything about those that departed. No goodbye, no thanks for the memories, nothing.

Probably once was enough and maybe he didn't want to endure another period without a record contract anywhere in sight. Considering when he rejoined the expectation was that BOT would be released.

Alain said ‘See you in Dublin’ in that same week, so his exit definitely wasn’t planned.

No not at all, it is hardly ‘superior’ if you dispose of band members so easily. But given Morrissey’s track record hardly surprising either.

Are these changes more momentous than we realise? Did Morrissey ever perform live on stage with a woman or women before? All I can think of in any way related is the duet with Siouxsie, which in the end they recorded separately. And while there have been backing singers aplenty, no mixed group on stage. So both Carmen and Camille joining now is a big deal and will definitely create a different vibe. It'll be interesting. David Bowie had a fantastic female guitarist who added massively to proceedings.

Who's to know about Alain and the others? What anonymous people here are telling us is very dubious. If someone knows what happened, surely they'd have the integrity to be discreet for all involved and not malign anyone. Pretending to know and badmouthing indicates other motives.

Carmen and Camille will add colour as they rock and 'boot the grime of the world in the crotch'.

Yes, I thought the same thing. Quite like Bowie with Gail Ann Dorsey in the 90s.
It will definitely bring a new exciting vibe to the band.
