Inside information on Moz, Marr & management

The political statements have died down a lot since his return in 2021 post lockdown.

The worst era was 17-19 when every week it seemed he'd make a new statement.
The 'rising above it' comment when asked about the US election was very remarkable. I'm sure several former managers will have looked on and thought - wow, if only he had been so 'sensible' in the past. Has the boy who'll never learn, finally learned the art of discretion?
I'm not so sure though. I think it was just his way of expressing his ambivalence on the question. No matter how much he hates Trump, Moz is an intelligent man, he must hate Harris just as much.

SAM:
What do you think of the state of American politics?
M:
I couldn’t care less now. I’d rather jump naked into a swimming pool at midnight. The world will spin however it spins. My time on earth is now very limited and although I don’t as yet know how, I’m going to try to enjoy it.

Come March 2025 it will have been 5 years since “I am not a Dog on a Chain” was released. For perspective, The Smiths entire existence happened over 5 years. In the past 5 years this is what Morrissey has done:

2 albums recorded and unreleased,
91 shows, 31 cancellations. (who in his camp thought YATQ20 shows would be successful?)
1 self-serving Fiona Dodwell "interview"
Zero explanations for Perth, Nottingham, Auckland, Greek…
3,254 Central posts about dead people, fan videos, album/single/tour announcements that never happen

But no worries, I get it. I’m the asshole for noticing this.

The fact the you’re an asshole is incidental and completely peripheral to the fact that you are highjacking a new thread again to bitch about him when the title of this thread is Rochester NY Nov 16th post-show.

The ignore function is an option if you’d rather not see my accurate assessment of his, unfortunately, collapsing career.

The ignore fiction is an option if you’d rather not see my accurate assessment of his, unfortunately, collapsing career.
As any industry insider would (and should) know it is always a good policy to have healthy gaps between album releases. In the five years prior he released 3 albums in 3 years, which is simply too much for an artist in this part of his career.

It is very normal for artists that started in the 80s to release an album every 5-6 years. Some take much longer, others have stopped releasing albums altogether.

It’s not accurate at all. You forgot to mention all the fans that don’t give a fuuck, and continue to stand by his side. He’s a big boy, he can deal with the choices he’s made.

I wonder if he got the sense that your hero Pete Galli was getting ready to stab him in the back …

You are also more than welcome to ignore posts by me and stick your head in the ground and pretend that this current tour is something to brag about.

He doesn’t do interviews because he refuses to be held accountable for anything. If he did, it would be great to ask him what all that late summer talk about releases being forthcoming was all about…..

I’m not bragging, simply being accurate.

If you don’t enjoy what an artist has chosen to offer, then why do you follow? Do you get off on pointing out the obvious, while ignoring what is still great and a beautiful shared experience for those that do care? Must suck being you.

Careful what you wish for, he still may say exactly what he feels about Pete Galli, and why he again walked away from another manager that supposedly had his best interests at heart.

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.

The wonderful current shows have zero to do with his collapsing ongoing business. In fact, it’s exactly the thing that is lulling him into complacency…. He thinks that as long as the audience is there when he walks out on stage, everything must be ok.

And I didn’t mean you were bragging, I meant that he is bragging. He does zero to engage fans when he’s not touring, and his bringing Ryan on tour to post photos is his latest attempt to show a label “hey look, my shows sell out, sign me!”. As if that’s all it’s going to take at this point.

Ok all you brain surgeons… if I’m so full of shit, what’s your theory on why both he and Jesse (altho that statement was obvs written by M) strongly hinted at new music earlier in the year, but neither has said anything about it since?

I think he said at one of the shows if not more that those albums will remain unreleased, so for the people so sure he was going to announce the release of at least BOT, yes you likely will be met with some hostility, lol
Did he ever explain why he canceled South America?

Then why are you posting about it here? What’s your agenda?

As I already said, he’s a big boy, he can deal with the choices he has made and will make. His business is none of your business, it never was. And it’s obvious you don’t see what’s important to him, regardless of what others like you imagine is ‘wrong’ about it.

You have no idea what ‘Morrissey thinks’…

And he will ‘hint at new music’ again and again in the future too.

Are you under the impression that I’m unaware of my “options”? Hilarious!! Almost as hilarious as the fact that you’re still showing your face here! After you posted a pic of your row and seat nunbers!! :lbf:

This website is for all the least self aware people on earth!

Row F, seat 109. Like I give a f***.

These people will try to run off insiders 1. Because they don't want the truth 2. They want to be on the inside
They did the same thing to another person here who had some inside info, the same people were extremely rude and hostile.
I appreciate the information and I hope you stick around
I think everything you've said is credible and it does seem like there was a new single coming out along with an announcement about Bonfire. He played a song we had not heard before and he did make an announcement about Bonfire, which I am sure would have been a different announcement had he taken the indie deal and not fired his manager
The diehards here always end up taking everything out on the wrong person or people. YES it is your fault for noticiing what a f*** up he's been and the only thing standing between them and hearing Morrissey's new albums is Morrissey. So backwards. They could watch him drown kittens onstage and think of an excuse for it.
Good for him that he has not canceled a show, but is that the standard now? If he actually completes a 12 date tour, everything is fine and he's the bestest cuddliest Mozi ever?

Stick around? I've been coming here daily since 1997 and AM a diehard. That's exactly why I'm doing this, and EXACTLY why I was involved in the first f***ing place.

Thanks for this. If anyone can reccomend an easy way to rip audio from a browser, I can give all the non-assholes here a few treats.
