Re: Goodness me! There are SO MANY replies from Skylarker. All nonsense, of course! l

I have not seen the remake. I kinda liked the original because it's hard not to like a movie with both Dustin Hoffman and David Warner directed by Peckinpah...

Since you've seen the remake, I'm wondering if they added the scene where she gets raped by her ex-boyfriend and then 20 seconds later starts to enjoy it? Makes me hate her even more that she didn't tell little Dustin about it.

Yes, that scene plays out the same in the remake. She is borderline psychopathic herself. No wonder she enjoyed rekindling with her ex-boyfriend.

I'm going to watch the original in the next few days.

Please don't reference my blog and Oprah in the same sentence. She is no hero of mine. Oprah is an irrational fool who has done America a disservice with her grandstanding for the Woo Woo movement and books such as The Secret, sending impressionable minds back into the realms of the dark ages. Irresponsible and destructive, to say the least.

Any Oprah hater is a friend of mine...and I liked you even before I knew that!

Of course, Brummie hates Oprah, too...albeit for entirely different reasons. :lbf:

If I recall, she isn't really psychotic in the original...just a spoiled little attention-starved brat who clearly has no loyalty about her and feels little love for her husband.

There really is no one likeable in the original film and I'm sure knowing Peckinpah, he did that purposely. She is far too annoying and stupid, the angry mob are established as pretentious dickheads early on so you have no love for them, and Dustin Hoffman is too meek to even allow his latter badassery to be rooted for...especially when what triggers him to stand up for himself is protecting a child murderer.

Let me know what you think of the original, please...

I didn't know that. I do now...

:D

Yeah...this is one of those moments I hate to admit that I'm a fan of Elton John.

I grew up with Elton John. I remember listening to Yellow Brick Road in the car when I was ten while driving to the doctor's. And the original hit Don't Go Breaking My Heart was the highlight of one summer at the community pool. It played daily of the radio. I can still visualize standing at the edge of the diving board, sun shining in my eyes, smile on face, Elton's voice... bounce, up into the air... into the pool... magical.

I grew up on him as well...mostly on his 70s output. 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road' and 'Captain Fantastic & The Brown Dirt Cowboy' are two of my favorite albums of all time...both in my personal top 5. What is your favorite track off each album?

I responded to CG in the manner in which I did because I felt that she was painting herself in a bad light. She cannot seem to self-monitor. Also, she has been resorting to all-time lows these last few weeks by posting private information which was revealed to her confidentially, digging up links to age-old threads, and, now, posting a link to a year-old blog post of mine. How she knew where to find that blog entry is beyond me. I couldn't locate it as quickly. And, I honestly don't get her point of posting it anyway. It was meant to be an off-the-cuff experiment in polemical writing. Whether or not I succeeded, is another thing. But my blog is public. It has been for eight years. Nothing being re-posted from it will embarrass or shock me. Otherwise it wouldn't already be out in the open. If you or CG think you can twist my words to mean something different from their original meaning, go for it. Glad I could fill your vacuous schedules.

Lack of self-monitoring because I mentioned a blow job? I was just trying to stir up the sediment and knock you out of your comfort zone. arby? :lbf: I see you're on a crash course now confirming your belief that Viva is pleasant and familiar in your mutual love for Elton John. Be careful, though...

I think you fail to realize that I judge a person by the behavior that I witness. I have yet to read or see anything that leads me to believe that Viva is anything but a nice person. And this is the opinion that I will hold unless proven otherwise--present tense evidence only, thank you. I don't hold a person's past against them--especially one which I was not a witness to. Furthermore, if you have learned anything from reading my blog, especially earlier posts, you will know that I believe in forgiveness and that people can change.

You seem to enjoy being my blog's publicist. Where should I send the check?

Can you at least post some of he better entries? Well, I guess The Filter Bubble isn't too shabby. I don't see how it relates to Viva though. Just as I don't understand how the last blog entry related to my friendship with Skylarker. He and I are not partners in crime or lovers. There is no Skybites. Though the name sounds too cool to not embrace for the time being.

Some of his early stuff is great. Roy Rogers is an amazing song.

Didn't you know?..Viva is evil incarnate. I am evil incarnate. She's been saying this forever.

If you befriend us...there is no turning back. Blood in, blood out.

I would have to say that I am more of a Greatest Hits, kind of gal. Loved, and still love, this album...

Had in on Vinyl... obviously.

I love "Roy Rogers"! "I've Seen That Movie Too" and "All The Girls Love Alice" are probably my favorites but I literally love every song on "GYBR" except "Social Disease".

Yeah, I didn't know you could be dubbed "a monster" for talking shit about Morrissey, his latest music and making fun of someone for liking Jesse Tobias. Such is the digital age. It's a good thing Germany didn't have access to internet forums back in the day, huh? :D

And we're supposed to be the crazy ones who violate user's personal privacy and bully people? :lbf:

My blog advocates the freedom to talk shit about Morrissey. I am all for it. He is not beyond reproach. I think his music and behavior over the last few years are worthy of criticism. Heck, I have done this very thing on this website myself--many times. People like goinghome should... go home! I hate sycophants! CG obviously has not read my blog achieve. I've pissed many people off here with my dissenting opinions about Morrissey. And I gather from that thread CG doesn't like to sycophants either? So what is her point?
