Same with me (though J. Chicc is worse). But I think we'd agree those records transcend their production. They're still great. Same thing for late era Pixies. The weird thing about Indie Cindy is that it was produced by Gil Norton, who produced Doolittle. I guess everyone involved must've wanted a more commercial sheen for whatever reason.

How do you know it's mediocre until you listen to it? The songs are really good. I rate Indie Cindy much higher than Trompe Le Monde.

I could, to some degree, understand the comparison to Joe Chiccarelli’s productions, but I still prefer him over Finn. Joe’s has more clarity with tasteful blend, richness and good dynamics. But I still rate highly Lillywhite, Ronson and Visconti’s work with M. Street is good too, but sounds a little dated and sonically a bit veiled.

Hmmm, ok. Maybe I’ll give it a listen. Don’t know though. I’m weird, I’d rather just repeatedly listen to the music that means the most to me rather than something that doesn’t hit me on the same emotional level, even if it’s by the same artist. Like Patti Smith, I really can’t listen to anything after Wave really. It’s her early work, that I would die defending.

Yeah, I get the songs transcending the production, such as Quarry as an example, but I still dream of what could have been. Same with Kill Uncle. Come to think of it, I never cared for the production of Doolittle, and though different producers, Kill Uncle has that similar softness to it. Out of the Pixies stuff, for me, Bossanova is the best. Though Trompe has a little more clarity, while retaining the punch.

My fave Mitchell & Webb sketch: Are We the Baddies?
So good. 😂

I've been specifically a Peep Show fan for many many years, I have watched every episode like, 50 times (that's not even a far off exaggeration). My husband and I put it on as "background noise" when we're cooking or doing chores sometimes.
It is, absolutely, one of my absolute favorite TV shows. You know what... it's probably #1.

I had to go see the pixies several years ago as the cajoled participant on an outing 🙄 with my former boss 🙄🙄🙄 and let me tell you all, that is who you go to see if you ever want to be in a venue where EVERY single person in the audience has such bad BO that your nose might fall off your face in protest at the sheer EVERYTHING BAD AND UNHOLY about that! And i don’t mean just sweaty people who got super hot because they were up front, i mean they ALL smelled worse than the LEGAL LIMIT!

And far as i know, the legal limit has an internationally established threshold, which is like… if i am in a public place and i have to root around in a blind panic trying to find perfume and a silk scarf at the bottom of my bag so that i can spray my own scarf and tie it around my face because you smell so bad I can’t even function, then you have crossed that internationally established threshold for the legal limit of stink by about 2,000,000 miles!

You're gonna love multiculturalism

I haven’t heard Pixies’ new album in full but ‘Chicken’ and ‘Motoroller’ will be on my favourite singles of 2024 list. Pixies’ music since 2014 is underrated from what I’ve heard of it. It’s not quite on the level of some of what they were releasing 35 years ago, but I’m not sure why anyone would care very much about that at this point. It’s the only Pixies we’re getting so we can enjoy it for what it is and feel glad they’re still making music, or tell ourselves that they never should have got back together as anything other than a live band and what they’re releasing now is below par and damaging their legacy (which it isn’t, really). I read people saying words to that effect so often throughout the 2010s that it had almost become an established fact in my mind until I began listening to more of their newer stuff for myself.

If Monkey Gone to Heaven is a 9 (out of ten), then Alec Eiffel is an 8, and if Alec Eiffel is an 8 then Motoroller is 7:

And Alain quit, and Boz quit, and Gustavo Manzur quit…

I’m not bothered about a Morrissey/Marr re-union, but someone of MOZI’s stature/talent deserves more than a cobbled together group of session musicians.
You just mentioned 3 individuals , I 100% guarantee they all 3 had life situations that took them away , how can you..... knowing YOUR life situations.....be so selfish....come on
