Details of the newly completed album 'Without Music the World Dies', plus news that Capitol Records has terminated their contract with Morrissey.

There was, IIRC, a member of The Specials who played keyboard & wrote songs circa mid 90's.
Will try and find any socials.
FWD.

Just a few random observations:
1. Notre dame: I suppose it’s about the cathedral of Paris that took fire a few years ago. He believed at the time that it was deliberately set on fire. Any chance of him playing this song in Paris in 2 weeks. It’s written by Alain.

2. Happy New Tears is probably the Alain song that I would like to hear most. Feels like it will be one of Alain’s signature melancholic tunes, something we have been missing for too long. Andof course, the song will begin with the title et je viendrai :)

3. It sounds as if he had signed a deal for (at least) 2 albums with Capitol, which resulted in him arranging studio time. Unfortunately it wasn’t meant to be. But without music, Morrissey dies, and so he soldiers on.

How do you record 10 songs so quickly? Seems kind of half-assed.
"The bulk of the songs that would become The Velvet Underground & Nico were recorded in four days in mid-April 1966 at Scepter Studios, a run-down recording studio in Manhattan" - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Velvet_Underground_&_Nico

Re Zoom Zoom the Little Boy, a possible inspiration is from the sound-track of a 1993 martial arts film called Only The Strong:

"Only the Strong (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), composed of eleven hip hop and capoeira music songs, was released in 1993 via Fox Records. It features contributions from Jibril Serapis Bey, Marcel Branch, Patrick McCain, Donna Simon, Mellow Man Ace, Miami Boyz and New Version of Soul, as well as Kao Rossman, Scott G., Iki Levy, Stuart S. Shapiro, Blueblood, DJ Muggs, Kid Fury and LRoc on production duties. The most prominent songs in the film are Serapis Bey's "Paranauȇ" and "Zoom-Zoom-Zoom" - the latter being more well known as the theme song for Mazda's TV commercials..." - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Only_the_Strong_(film)#Soundtrack

Clicking on the Zoom-Zoom-Zoom link leads to a short note saying the song was also known as zum-zum-zum, and Zoom Zoom.

Zoom zoom could just be a sound effects term either, or something else.

Mark James wrote and recorded it before Elvis covered it.
He did.. but we are looking for something by Mark Adams.. or just an idea of who that is. With 200+ posts to go in the thread I might find out soon.

gustavo shared the lyrics for headache during a morrissey meetup in highland park this morning. gus was on his way to the waistcoat hut on fig for some some last minute tour apparel but he had time to say hi and drop this on us. the lyrics are brilliant and some of morrissey's best work to date. enjoy! i can't wait to hear it during morrisseyoke soon.

Headache

Verse 1:
You know my pedigree
My CV's pristine
But the music business is cruel
A sewage filled swimming pool
I've sent out my songs with hope and pride
Only to be binned rubbish curbside

Verse 2:
My head aches
Oh, it's such a shame
It’s utter heartbreak
Oh, no it’s a game
I’ve got a splitting headache
Let’s play a fun game
No, wait, it’s that stabbing pain again
It’s a jittery head shake
A career full of retakes
My belly aches
From all the fruitcakes
While my music survives
The final outbreak

Chorus:
Nobody wants me
I'm lost in a syrupy sea of uncertainty
My pockets are linty, my dreams are on hold
Will I ever release music worth its weight in gold?
Oh, oh, oh, the same old headache

Verse 3:
My head breaks
Was it worth the fame?
I barely can stutter “headache”
And point to my brain
I’m pumping the brakes
To all the clambakes
I’m done with fake handshakes
With all of my mistakes
Oh, the headache
Oh, my head aches
Oh, the headache
Oh, my head aches

Bridge:
I’ve lost hope again, I live in doubt
Is it me, or have the records companies phased me out?
I'll keep on trying and I'll keep on dying
While the rejections keep multiplying

Chorus:
Nobody wants me
I'm lost in a syrupy sea of uncertainty
My pockets are linty, my dreams are on hold
Will I ever release music worth its weight in gold?
Oh, oh, oh, the same old headache

Outro:
I won't give up
I won't back down
I'll keep on singing until I'm found
And when that day comes
I'll know it's fate
That you’ll get to hear the songs I was meant to create

lol... what.

If morrissey covers an Elvis song and no one ever hears it, does it really make a noise?

Mark Adams?
Jerry Dammers was the original, but that was much earlier.
