I had a great time at the Morrissey show, but yeah, it felt SHORT. Most of my favorite bands play twice as long, or even more. When the lights went up I was shocked. I mean They Might Be Giants recently did a ton of shows where they opened for themselves with a 45 minute set, then did a full 2 hour show after. And they are older guys too now.

It's a shame. I don't understand why he doesn't act as his own support act. Do a 30-45 minute set, playing new stuff. Take a 30 minute break, then do an hour of his classics and hits. People would go nuts for it. It'd be much better than hour long sets, with nearly half the songs his newer, mediocre songs.

And here's where we disagree. My favorite moments of the night were his newer songs. Jim Jim Falls is a fantastic crowd singalong anthem, Knockabout World was beautiful, and the previews of the new album were exciting. Telephone rocks.

I just wanted the show to be longer is all.

then folks would complain that there’s
no film  and he plays too long, all the songs we don’t want to hear, and he played those last time also.

Oh yeah, they were good live, but I just don't like them on the studio recording, despite many attempts, so I just can't get into them as much as I'd like to.

The Cure have been playing 2 and half hour sets (at least - their longest recorded was 5 hours) for decades, yet they sell out arena tours, sell albums well and have a massive following, all while touring with a support act and putting on an excellent stage show (with nice videos etc in the background). Morrissey could do well to take a leaf out of their book. If Morrissey did 2 hour sets riddled with Smiths and early solo classics people would love it.

Having said that, if Morrissey charges £65 for a 1 hour set and no support act, I wouldn't wish to imagine what he'd charge for something longer.

Unlike other musical acts. For Morrissey, I think most by now know what length of set they are paying for. He’s not promising anyone a long set.

Also saw Paul McCartney this year. MASSIVE show with TONS of songs from his entire career and he even threw new songs at us and made funny self-deprecating jokes about how we don't care about them. It was an incredibly special night. Nobody left disappointed. The man is 80 years old.

Morrissey is not the Cure or like other musical acts, he does not advertise and is not known for doing long sets. People know or should know by now what they are paying for, they are paying for a Morrissey show not a Cure, Suede, etc show. And I don’t know if people would love a longer set. I don’t think it’s possible to make that kind of prediction.

? Possible to make that kind of prediction? Huh? Of course people would love to hear more Morrissey songs at the Morrissey show they paid a lot of money and went out of their way to go see. I don't even understand why somebody wouldn't. And if they don't, they can just leave. 99% of the room wants more. The disappointment in NYC when the lights came on was palpable. A lot of confusion and groans.

Ay caramba! The simple solution is to go see The Cure twice, Morrissey none, buy two t-shirts because Robert Smith’s are cheaper, and call your day’s work done

Morrissey doesn't like people, he wont give people something just because they want it.

and yet, people come back again and again. So it seems the fans are getting what they want.

But on another note, he rarely does what’s expected of him. Surely he must see how long other artists sets are, and he obviously refuses.
