Good lord, how f***ing pathetic. Sleeper self released their album The Modern Age along with a couple of singles and got plenty of airplay. He needs to get his head out of his arse, embrace the new way of doing things, surround himself with professionals and stop with this woe is me shit.
He’s basically got a significant fanbase that will put up with anything, and it’d be delightful if he’d pretend not to know this a little more often.

A real shock n real horror is the fact, that Capitol is not answering questions on the release date of BOT or BOT in general. The NME has reached out for comment and they won't answer. Why should a record company not take the chance of even the slightest publicity for a difficult artist? Why, Sam?

Does Morrissey understand he needs to release music for it to be played anywhere? This only came out last week, it's getting some airplay. Great. It's not overdue, it's on time. Maybe if he had self-released over a year ago... BOT songs would have received a lot more airplay by now... and streaming and everything else. Maybe we'd be hearing songs from the follow-up now?
nearly all his LPs have records played on the radio at some point. Its a real "me against the world" myth that he is never played on the radio. could be argued it was the radio and NME that made him a star.
people actually fall for shit lies over and over . LOL

Innit. I saw The Cure last night in Leeds. They played for 2 hours and 48 minutes before they finished their show at 10:50 PM. Robert Smith had a cold, but they didn't cancel, and his voice sounded incredible. Their stage show production was also fantastic, and was a spectacle by itself. This was their 41st date out of a 46 date world tour, and they play for at least 2 and half hours every night. The Twilight Sad supported them. Oh, and t-shirts were only £20. The tickets cost £65. They're about to release their 14th studio album. Robert Smith is one month and one day older than Morrissey. The Cure have a longstanding record contract, and they're allowed to release their records in physical formats.

Compare that to Morrissey. The tickets were £65. There was no support act. He played for just over one hour. T-shirts were £25 (maybe more?). He's currently trying to release another album. He has cancelled several dates on this tour due to "illness".

I love Morrissey's music more than The Cure's, but there's just no comparison between the two when it comes to the level of effort and hard work they are willing to put in. Why would any record company invest time and money into Morrissey and his product, when he isn't willing to put in the graft, constantly slags off people, record companies, media outlets etc. and consistently cancels tour dates, with barely any explanation? Why would they bother when the songs themselves aren't very good (Dog On a Chain was awful, bar one or two songs)? Why would they bother when he alienates current and potential fans? Why would they want to deal with someone who posts ramblings on Central? Rather than blame anyone but himself, he seriously needs to self-respect on exactly why he hasn't received a recording contract, and why no record company would want to throw away money producing physical records and CDs that just won't sell that well.

Definitely. BBC Radio 2 and Radio 6 played singles from Low in High School. It just isn't true that he doesn't receive airplay when he releases decent music (which is the key here, as Dog On a Chain didn't receive much airplay because it was rubbish).

I actually think Rebels is a good song, it's just clearly been rushed through production.

You read my mind. I'm sick of this 'woe is me' bullshit. There are people freezing to death this winter sleeping on the streets.

He also weakens his position with the constant self-indulgent self-pity.

I read recently that self-pity makes a narcissist feel like a hero. They have a grandiose sense of self and very often can't look beyond themselves. But this form of self-esteem is not authentic. So, feeling self-pity and playing the victim acts as a substitute for that lack of authentic self-worth.

Genuinely wondering how someone can write this and even be a fan of Morrissey. If you hate overdramatic, theatrical, comical, narcissistic, self-indulgent self-pity...what do you enjoy about Morrissey?? All that stuff is why I love his lyrics.

It's a wordplay (play-on-words) on the famous James Dean movie "Rebels Without A Cause", so it's a quite clever title actually.
Yes, we know. It's a fine title and a nice song, but I'd hardly call it clever, and it's certainly not one of his cleverest song titles.

Bird shit alert. INNIT!

On the clever scale I'd put it a 6 out of 10. I think it makes an interesting point about how the most interesting artists aren't celebrated as much as the crashing bores, and does it in the classic Morrissey way, referencing a piece of pop culture he was obsessed with in his younger days. He's done better but I think the idea is more about the sentiment than the cleverness.

Morrissey needs to stop with the Woe is me shit? Are you kidding? What's next? Fish should stop swimming? Birds cease to fly? This is the man who wrote Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now. He is the king of woe is me. You guys need to stop with the "Morrissey should do this and Morrissey should do that" bullshit. It's utterly exhausting and dull as hell.
I must admit that is part of his appeal 😂 and part of what fuels his music. Which I presume we all like and relate to. Well I do anyway 😂

I had a great time at the Morrissey show, but yeah, it felt SHORT. Most of my favorite bands play twice as long, or even more. When the lights went up I was shocked. I mean They Might Be Giants recently did a ton of shows where they opened for themselves with a 45 minute set, then did a full 2 hour show after. And they are older guys too now.
