Morrissey Central "Mexico City" - dengue infection will take 2-3 weeks to clear; tour to resume in Florida (September 10, 2023)

Looks like he caught Dengue Fever - all shows cancelled until Florida on 7 October. All South American dates cancelled.

Morrissey’s arrival in Mexico City has resulted in a dengue infection. The virus will take 2-3 weeks to clear.

The tour is set to resume in Florida.

Morrissey has not ‘cancelled’ any shows, but the infection makes the immediate two weeks impossible.

even if he put out the true facts people on here still wouldnt believe him,he is in a lose lose situation on this site.
the only people who should be moaning on here are people who actually had tickets.

hear hear !

Nah, it’s just solo that turns everything into a shit show.

How small is your world? You should see what they’re saying about him on other sites! I’ll give you a hint: it’s not good.

Yes, ok. Then just be open about that.

And if there is any mental of physical impairment, don't stretch too far. Keep gigs local and with more days in between them (I know, Nottingham ...). Fans have the strange habit of buying tickets for concerts that are officially announced.

Best of luck to the Floridians in October and to the Australians in December. And let's see if he can stand four dates in a row in NY.

Unless there's a significant surge in sales, there will definitely be a new sickness or circumstances beyond our control message for 3 of those New York gigs.

You keep hinting at something, you have been doing it for a while now. What are suggesting?
Don’t press her for details, she doesn’t know any. If she keeps things vague, she can imply that she knows something the rest of us don’t. The best you can hope for from her in response to your (perfectly valid) question is one of these emojis: 🙄

What other sites? You mean sites that don’t care for Morrissey in the first place? Lol. Fail.

No I mean sites like Twitter, TikTok and Facebook. Oh you’re right, they probably hate him on all those places as well, although not as much as on solo for some reason.

Another one who will not apply logic to anything they post. He’s scrapped a full tour, costing people x amounts of money and time and given a half arsed reason that isn’t true. He was away on a flight Thursday evening and only posted a message on Sunday evening that the tour was off. But it’s wrong of people affected to peeved? Get a grip of yourself.
He should just retire and have some respect for his fans. The ‘do no wrong’ tag fell off a long time ago.

Where did I say … the people affected directly by the cancellations should not complain?

NOWHERE. So you can f*** off.

Your lack of empathy for those people affected by his latest pathetic excuse is none existent. I’m sure you’re quite educated and know full well he’s not got the dengue, and there lies my point. He’s full of shit.
2013 when he cancelled on the Latino guys, he was on the sauce hours later with Gallagher N, laughing and taking the piss.
The fans deserve better.

It's pretty grim, isn't it? I've got tix to Sat and Sun.

I'd say they should move Sunday to a GA venue and say anyone with tickets to Sun, Tues, Wed can attend and, if you have multiple tickets, you can be refunded for unused ones.

Of course, I know people with tickets to Tuesday and Wednesday and this would be disruptive. But I've never seen a Morrissey theater show so sparsely sold as these two in particular.

Yes that would make sense, I fancied one of the mid week ones as flights are cheap. If he's going to move Sun/Tue/Wed to a GA venue, he should do it sooner rather than later so people can alter their travel arrangements in good time.

They are all theories, nobody knows if he left on Thursday where he went, what he has, if he was hijacked by UFOs. Seriously speaking it's very rare... and he can't have abandoned everything, 7 shows, which were the continuation of the tour he called 40 years of Morrissey, without there being a major cause
I wouldn't rule out this option... 👽

Well, I had tickets for Lima, Bogota, Santiago, Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo and Brasilia. I would be traveling for two weeks around South America. The evil airlines will not refund me and will charge a large fee to re-issue the tickets when I decide to use them again. Basically, I will pay nearly the same price again for the same ticket, doubling my costs.

And I am not sure if the ticket sellers will actually refund me in the case of cancellation. If they demand that we go to the box office in person I will lose that, too, as I live in Brazil. But I guess they will refund through the credit card.

Same scenario that I went through in 2013. Yes, I was that stupid again.

Then I guess I fit the profile.
you certainly do cris, you have every right to be pissed off after all the money you have spent, feel for you not getting to see M live.

Whatever is really going on with him (and at the end nobody knows but him) the distrust in his reasons and excuses for cancelling shows is well and long earned, because he's been caught lying in the past. Most of the fans just would be happy if there was a "I'm sorry" -post and timely information about cancellations/refunds/postponed shows etc. It's relatively easy to do that and everyone would have a better feeling. But he purposely does not do that and that's his decision. But fans have the right to be disappointed with that. Just imagine young Steven Morrissey in our place, he would be fuming and writing one hundred angry blog posts

I wondering if he's listening to some Dengue Fever while he's recovering...

that would be enough to tip M into oblivion, video has lots of dogs and chickens so not all bad.

Oh my ... beginning of the year?!?!?!

That's rainy season in Brazil ... that's when dengue cases spike here.

Someone better them his management team that. We don't want the same excuse twice, right?
Quite. Summer south of the equator - hot and humid. And loads of mozzies.
He's contracted a case of dengue fever severe enough to incapacitate him for 3 weeks, and yet he is apparently planning to go back?
Has anyone told him the risk of dying from dengue is greatly increased if you get it again?
But, of course, not for one second do I believe Moz has actually contracted dengue.

Individuals who are infected for the second time are at greater risk of severe dengue.
