Message to Moz

That's not a bad idea. I've been complaining about Morrissey's lack of any comment on the Israel situation since it began (an ugly silence that seems like support, given the song) and I think Murray would be able to get something out of him on the subject.
Has he not been commenting about the ugliness and brutality of war his whole life? What more does he need to say? Has he commented on Ukraine? Has he commented on the treatment of the Uyghur Muslims? I imagine we all know what he thinks about such subjects. Meat is Murder. And War is Murder too.

I would love a compendium of all things Morrissey has ever said about immigration and Islam (and other pet issues of the right). I feel that some of you are making him out to be this conservative figurehead with endless amounts of statements about these issues just because you want him to be and you want him to agree with you. Sure, there has been a few conservative mutterings over the course of these last seven years, but he’s also said and done things that contradict this.

Remember that Morrissey is a complex individual. He’s neither a full blown conservative/rightwing/alt-right nor is he probably (any longer) a socialist.

I'm not sure who you think on Moz Solo wants to make him into a 'conservative figurehead'? Google will give you article after article by left wing journalists doing that and giving a compendium of Moz's supposed 'sins'.
I agree and have always said this - Moz is left wing on some issues (probably most), right wing on some issues, and no wing on some issues. Just like most people, in fact. He is no figurehead for anyone other than himself. Except maybe animal rights - I think he would happily call himself a figurehead for that.

I don't think he's a pacifist. He said in Autobiography, "I am not St. Francis of Assisi." He's said he supports violence committed on behalf of animal liberation. One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter. Has he ever said even a word in support of the Palestinian struggle? He comes off as a bit of a delicate flower when he whines about bossy airport workers being "fascists," yet can't seem to empathize with the aggressive checkpoint tyranny imposed daily on West Bank Palestinians by his Israeli friends.

The reason I think he's obligated to say something on Gaza as opposed to Ukraine or the Uyghurs is because he never wrote full-throated songs of praise called Vladimir Putin is our very good friend or The Chinese aren't a sub-species after all and I really like the CCP. The line "I can't answer for what armies do" is not only ignorant of Israel's conscription policy, but a double standard when he criticizes the US on the basis of what its armies do. "The American way displayed proudly | is to show lots of teeth and talk loudly." Which is true enough, but what about the Israeli way? Not a peep from our man.

Yes, but many people here seem to want him to speak out about immigration and such and keep implying that he’s anti immigration etc.

Oh, I think we can agree that Moz is full of contradictions. But he has been consistently against war and the arms industry over the years. Maybe though his view of Israel and its neighbours might be influenced by the fact that his humasexual rights would be respected in one country, and he would be thrown off a tall building or executed in most of the others? And we know which is which.

True, I don't think he needs to talk about immigration. His stance is pretty clear. He supports immigration on America's border, because he thinks all the migrants are gorgeous tattooed Mexican lesbians and rockabilly boys wearing copious Catholic jewelry and carrying signed vinyl copies of Bona Drag. And he's against mass immigration into England because he read Douglas Murray's book, hates halal slaughter, and has a nostalgic fondness for the Britain of 1960s kitchen sink cinema.

You see - the man is full of contradictions. :ROFLMAO:

Well, don’t we all??

Really? Because he loudly condemned the US invasion of Iraq, and the "humasexual rights" issue was almost as clear-cut. We didn't have gay marriage at the time, but homo- (or huma-) sexuality was not punishable by death in G.W. Bush's America, as it was in Iraq under Saddam Hussein.

Hamas does pose a threat to Israel though. And all Jews. Iraq posed no threat to the USA or the UK. Iraq was invaded on a lie.

In that case, a threat to Israel would be a separate issue from humasexual rights. Are you suggesting Morrissey might support the current destruction in Gaza, on the grounds that Israel has an existential need to eliminate Hamas? Because that would be interesting, and another reason why his silence on the subject is so sphinxlike. He sure does support Israel's supposed right to exist, we know that much. As Mozzer1980 well put it, it's his pesky "English heart" leading the way (either that, or the "explosive kegs between his legs" when he's in Tel Aviv nightclubs in the early morning hours).

Just as an aside, a neoconservative like your Douglas Murray supported the Iraq war even apart from the bogus WMD claim, on the grounds that democracy and Western/Israeli interests in the Middle East justify going to war. "Perpetual war for perpetual peace," as the late great Gore Vidal summed it up in his critique.
