What cover version would you most like to hear Morrissey sing?

Ever since I heard of it in the Melanie thread I would be obsessed with Moz covering her song "Johnny Boy", it would fit perfectly.
It's a really powerful and haunting track. Would love to have heard Sinéad O'Connor cover it.
I love Melanie's cover of Ruby Tuesday. It's one of my favourite Rolling Stones' tracks, but she makes it her own.

Official studio versions of Condor El Pasa by Simon and Garfunkel, Nothing Rhymed by Gilbert O'Sullivan, Moon Over Kentucky by Sparks, Elvis' You'll Be Gone, Frankie Valli's To Give would be great

Yes! another one I wish he recorded in the studio.

Though maybe he felt ‘Yes, I Am Blind’ is close enough. ;)

i was watching a horror called brightburn, fantastic film when you think the budget was 7 million dollars,a record player comes on and it was a fifties song called, send her to me by wayne chance, would suit his voice perfectly, did i mention this was a great song.

The naked and famous - my energy

I saw the future swallow all the love we’ve known
cause it’s all just been one big joke

I was pleased to hear the (admittedly slight) homage to Blondie & their song Call Me in the Smiths' What She Said. Maybe something like, say, Atomic might suit Morrissey?

Well, I'm knocking on Death's door
Will I take my rest, among the blessed?
Mother, are you waiting?
Father, are you pacing?
I'm coming home

I'm knocking on Death's door
Will I take my rest in my Sunday best?
Mother, are you anxious?
Father, are you gracious?
I'm coming home

I've been away too long
For so long you've been strong
I've been away too long
I know that it was wrong
But I'm coming home

Well, I'm knocking on Death's door
Will I take my rest, have I passed the test?
Mother, are you praying?
Father, I am saying
I'm coming home

Ever since i first heard If You Go Away the first time ever in my life, i thought how amazing it would be to hear him sing it instead. But i’m so glad he never did and hope he never does.

This earlier post about Angels/Robbie Williams nearly made me vom in my mouth. The internet is a wildly terrifying place.

I know he would do a superb cover of Georgia Gibbs / Kiss of Fire. His version would just be like :love::love: all the way.

The Jam: Man In The Corner Shop ~

'Puts up the 'Closed' sign
Does the man in the Corner Shop
Serves his last
Then he says goodbye to him
He knows it is a hard life
But it's nice to be your own boss, really

Walks off home
Does the last customer
He is jealous
Of the man in the Corner Shop
He's sick of working at the Factory
He says it must be nice
To be your own boss, really

Sells cigars to the boss from the Factory
He is jealous
Is the man in the Corner Shop
He is sick of struggling so hard
Says it must be nice to own a Factory

Go to Church
Do the people from the area
All shapes and classes
Sit and pray together
For here they are all one
For God created all men equal.'

Given the recent Smiths/Johnny Marr non-reunion statement, plus the fact that he once chose it as one of his 'top 10 songs' for a radio program, I'd say this would be an appropriate one for Moz to cover on the next tour:
