But he was a member of Madness, right?
LOL
No, but he wanted his member in one of Madness, Chas (It may have been gossip)
Although, Chas, told me, M also asked him to manage him
FWD is correct with his posts as well. It is documented that M was in Nosebleeds and Slaughter
Back when I used to travel to Manchester back in the day, to Smiths gigs, a few people mentioned they went to the gig M did with Slaughter
( Manc Clive and John used to always mention the gig, if you are on this site Clive, tell them your stories )
I think a lot was lying about going but it was true that M did some work with the band. I heard the reason
they got the gig with Magazine was due to M's friendship with Linder (Linder and Howard were friends with benefits) Not sure if this is true, that's just what I heard. Also, I swear Billy said that M is still in a mood with him, as they nicked his lyrics
What is fecking odd, is why M would lie about something, like this, given it is hardly a well-kept secret
Also, this fact has been mentioned in a few books and articles, so why not call it out then, rather than blame Wiki, now?
I mean it is even on Rhino Records website, a former label of M's
https://www.rhino.com/article/5-things-you-might-not-know-about-morrissey
"Neither of the gigs lasted very long, but both opportunities came about as a result of the same musician: guitarist Billy Duffy, soon to find fame as the axeman for The Cult. Whilst with The Nosebleeds, Morrissey co-wrote a few songs for the band with such memorable titles as “Peppermint Heaven” and “I Think I’m Ready for the Electric Chair,” but the band disbanded before getting much of anywhere. As for Slaughter and the Dogs, Morrissey recorded four songs with the band and fronted the band when they auditioned for a record deal, but that didn’t end up going anywhere, "
It's funny, Billy should be given more credit for M's journey, given he not only got M involved in both bands. Nosebleeds and Slaughter, but was the one who told Johnny about M, or at least suggested Johnny reach out to M . Maybe, no Billy no Smiths.
M really does live in a fantasy world, at times. I wonder if he knows he is fibbing?
Off-topic, I was in Brighton, with the Fam a week ago and saw this busker, called Nathen. Brilliant guitar player, he did a load of
Smith's songs, the best covers ever.
