MORRISSEY
ANNOUNCES BEETHOVEN WAS DEAF LIVE IN PARIS
(2024 REMASTER)
OUT JULY 26TH

ANNOUNCES TWO LAS VEGAS SHOWS
JULY 26 & 27 AT HOUSE OF BLUES

"Despite recent fiascoes, I will indeed be fully present in blood-soaked flesh at the House of Blues in Las Vegas on July 26 (Friday) and 27 (Saturday). Having hung upside down for several months, I am now in good health - like an arrow fully drawn and waiting to be fired: please fling me. The 26th has ordained the first U.S. release of Beethoven Was Deaf, a live recording in Paris for your private use. Signed copies of the vinyl will be available at the House of Blues for those of you who still run upstairs whenever the doorbell rings (l certainly do.) Life begins again with full accompaniment from Jesse Tobias (guitar), Carmen Vandenberg (guitar), Camila Grey (keyboards), Solomon Walker (bass), and Matthew Walker (drums.) Expect a night of thrust and parry - no-show tunes. If you can find a decent pair of shoes, by all means come along. There is nothing quite like physical proximity, I am assured. If you would rather not come, then you are obviously one-half of a twin pair of parakeets. Some people sing, some poison the air. But if life is meaningless then why was there not always nothing? For those of you 85 and over who are still waiting for Bonfire Of Teenagers to be released, good news is finally within our grasp.

Hopefully, I will smell you in Vegas - where the audiences always stay the same age ... are you in the mood?" at
large — Morrissey

Thanks to @davidt for the link.
Note: Solomon & Matthew.
Regards,
FWD.

Out of nowhere, good news!

L O L
A bunch of lawnmower spare parts cobbled together to perform an old album with an old man.:rofl:

Wasn’t half of BWD recorded in London? Odd to subtitle it Live In Paris and odd to be on 1 LP when it’s an hour long..

A few other things to mention.
A) presumably, the set-list will feature a lot of songs from the original live album
B) have just checked and didn't realise he'd ditched virtually all the Kill Uncle songs in the live set by 1992. Bit of a shame. Would love to hear Sing your life and Driving your g/f.
C) the cost of getting the band together and rehearsed wouldn't add up for just two dates, so more are surely inevitable

re A - Morrissey being Morrissey, I don't think we can presume or assume anything about the setlist. Other than it will be a selection of songs that Morrissey wants to sing live.

the Walker brothers back in is a huge improvement. I really like their aggressive playing style. Matt especially I think is my favourite Morrissey drummer ever, he brings so much energy.

surprised he didn’t also publish his long statement on Central.

Wonder who took that photo of him with his Hector buckle and looks to be on the floor somewhere.
The tour 'poster' image is by Linder in 1999 - if you remember a series of him in and around bars/casinos in LA (photos titled "Vegas, Sunday").
Quoting myself from an old post elsewhere:
"Taken by Linder Sterling in and around LA in 1999 - from a photoshoot: some of which cropped up in Arena, Homme+ (2015) called "Memphis Morrissey.""

And of course this means, he either somehow got permission, or had to have the backing vocals redone. This of course is in regards to I Am Veronica, & Bonfires release.

And I’m so curious what label is brave enough to take him on. Surely this is a sign that management is doing something right.
Maybe Rhino is the new label, as they quote Morrissey‘s full words, which mentions BOT.

Could be, I always thought they were just a reissuer but in their about blurb it mentions new releases as well, although I seem to remember Morrissey not liking being tagged as a heritage artist.

Rhino is the catalogue development and marketing division of Warner Music Group. Founded in 1978, Rhino continues to set the standard for excellence in the reissue business it pioneered in both the physical and digital worlds with an emphasis on flawless sound quality, bonus tracks, informative liner notes, award-winning creative packaging, and a strong social conscience. Rhino has also expanded the definition of what a catalogue music company is, as evidenced by the label’s name and likeness representation deal with Frank Sinatra, its multi-faceted relationship with the Grateful Dead, and releasing new albums by heritage artists such as Jeff Beck and Cyndi Lauper. The catalogue of more than 5,000 releases includes material by Led Zeppelin, Eagles, David Bowie, Fleetwood Mac, Aretha Franklin, The Doors, Chicago, Ray Charles, Black Sabbath, John Coltrane, Yes, Phil Collins, The Ramones, and The Monkees, among many others.

Rhino's store are stocking the products.
They published the full press release the same time other record stores did via a news article on their Rhino Entertainment site (which leads to their store portal).
It is specifically a Sire (Warners) product, which is who would (should?) have released it in '93 Stateside. Why that never happened is anyone's guess.

FWD.

Interesting. Maybe he will no longer care, as long as it's released. Here's hoping.

Yes this is looking like a powerful setup. It's just going to be so cool to see Carmen with Solomon!

Ok, than maybe Sire/Parlophone/Warner…

Any chance he cancels? Too "elephant in the room" to mention?
There is always a chance any artist will cancel a show. That's the nature of live events. Morrissey may have done so more than some, he may communicate and 'apologise' about it less than some, but statistically it is still more likely that these shows will go ahead than not go ahead. When you buy tickets for any live event - you pays your money and you takes your choice. This is his 'work' after all. Sorry, to put it in the grubby language of the capitalist system. But he did write a song called Spent the Day in Bed. What is your sickness absence at work like? Exemplary?

Finally, some good news. I would love to go to Las Vegas but I have the small issue of living in Britain. Looking forward to getting the LP and hopefully we will finally hear Bonfire soon. Liking the announcement from the man himself.
Do they not permit travel outside of Britain these days? ;)
