Johnny Marr responds to Morrissey's open letter via Twitter (January 26, 2022)

The press don't trawl through nasty Marr quotes to get at Morrissey, they use nasty Morrissey quotes to get at Morrissey. If i had to guess what fake news meant it would be Morrissey being unable to deal with that fact. It's always someone else to blame.

The political references in Johnny's tweet were strange and nonsensical, had nothing to do with what Morrissey said. But, that is the regressive left for you their only defense to anything is to associate you with Trump. Marr, being out of touch with politics or not understanding them, per usual, does not seem to understand that consersatives are over it, they voted for Trump and will again and they have rejected the left's characterization of them. Trump also has the support of moderates, it's not an insult.

Deluded much?

Well what do you think when Marr
in an interview said that Isaac Brock was the greatest lyricist that he ever worked with, and many media/music sites ran with that turning it into a clickbait headline?

Marr didn’t even need to mention Morrissey’s name, but everyone knew what Marr was getting at.

And I’m sure some of those sites
liked having a dig at Morrissey, or
just jumping on the anti-Moz bandwagon.

Didn't Morrissey do a list of his favourites recently? and the Marr stuff was way down the list(of the stuff that even made it on).
It shouldn't matter, they're both allowed to have their opinions about their own work, it isn't Marr that's causing Morrissey problems, they both make it clear they are strangers these days and they last worked together decades ago.

Morrissey has the right to say he doesn't like it, but he shouldn't give a toss really. Nobody cared about Uncut except some fans until Morrissey reacted.

Most artists rate highly their most recent work, regardless of what their fans think.

Well the open letter is pointing out one of his problems

who are you or anyone to say what someone else should or shouldn’t give a toss about ?

Sorry did I mention that in my post?
Was it Uncut that did the interview where Marr made the Isaac Brock comment ?

The Trump and fake news references were Johnny's way of saying Morrissey was lying. Morrissey used Trump misinformation techniques, he's being called out on that. No one's been able to come up with these terrible things that Johnny has supposedly said. If they were said in private, then it didn't warrant a public letter.

Guff. Marr was playing to the prejudices of his Twitter tribe to whip up support, plus trying to hurt Morrissey with a jibe at the state of his reputation. Which is a social media technique that Trump was a master of. Not really Marr's forte though.

I guess. I wonder if even Morrissey knew what Marr was getting at with that ‘a bit 2021 yeah?’ line.

Because that term has been used for longer. And Trump wasn’t the first to use it. Maybe I’m just reading too much into it.

No humor or imagination. Like Marr’s tweet, falls flat.

Probably not - also we don't know if the carrier pigeon that brings him news has arrived yet.

The insurrection in 2021 marked the end of Trump's era (assuming he doesn't make a comeback).

Yeah - never tweet when you're angry.

Responding to Morrissey's post at all was a huge mistake but then to have nothing to say about it than some stupid nonsense about open letters and relevance? This more than anything else has made my opinion of Marr plummet. He clearly was informed of Morrissey's message immediately and someone, probably his idiot son, encouraged him to respond just as quickly, never mind that he didn't have much to really say about it.
The best response would have been to ignore it. The second best would be something like "sorry you see it that way, old friend."
But he wants to so a "fellow kids" routine instead. Because he's an idiot.

How arrogant do you have to be to imagine that going up against Morrissey in a war of words is a good idea?

You're exhausting.

well if thats the case then marr should let M slit his own throat, what hes doing by persistently mentioning M is that hes providing the knife for M to do the slitting.

M never said that johnboy said terrible things about him,he simply said stop mentioning me.

So it's OK for Moz to play Smiths songs and trade on his past ... but not Marr? Hypocrisy truly is the greatest luxury.
only difference is that when marr sings smiths song it is an assault on the eardrums of most listeners, dont know who told johnboy he could sing because he cant,i look forward to anybody trying to say otherwise.

Exactly.

Well since Moz doesn’t do press, that makes Marr the keeper of the Smiths flame in the media. That is good as he still holds the same values as the Smiths. Nothing to do with Moz solo though, I get the feeling Moz is completely uninterested in the Smiths.
Who is this ”Moz“ person ????

I said it's Morrissey's right to do as he wishes, "should" isn't a command it's my point of view, he should ignore the bloke he's had nowt to do with for 30 years. or if he wanted to make a real point he should have put the boot in and given some real examples of what he's sick of, otherwise why should Marr care about a whining post about the M word on Central.

I don't get the Brock point at all, should he move on from mentioning Morrissey or not? seems to be more about your sensitivity than anything else. Moz and Marr have had long fruitful careers where they could pick multiple highlights compared to other artists, is he insulting Matt Johnson as well?

FFS you dont know this? thats how yentas operate? making remarks

'well Matt Johnson would never say that'
'the best lyric writer ive seen is the mouse twat'

thats how they talk conduct themselves, very poorly. shanda is their guide.
with his sucky music, LePepo cant come out and say
'well so and so sucks' so he makes backstabbing yenta gossip
his MO disgraceful(n)

:hammer:

Have you heard Boxing Gloves Jesse bludgeon songs with his sludge? That's the offence.

Moz doesn't do press because if he was interviewed by someone who outright called him on his replacement faces backing band, the way he throws people away as soon as they outlive their usefulness, his borderline racism and loathsomely stupid comments about Kevin Spacey and Harvey Weinstein, and his utterly bizarre worldview, it would go down as worse than the Sweatless Nonce's interview. Moz prefers to hide behind carefully vetted email questions where he can hone his statements and no one can follow up on his dunderheaded daftness with a response such as "Are you kidding? You seriously think the Chinese are a subspecies?"

How's your day job working out? Still getting the 43 bus at 7.27am and dodging redundancy?

It's gone terribly wrong for you.

only Moz haters would accept LePep being an obvious yenta😬
you make the same post over and over again.(n)
as if would make sense on the 1000 try:lbf:
