GQ: "A$AP Rocky Is the Prettiest Man Alive" - Morrissey reportedly features on new A$AP Rocky album (May 19, 2021)

"Two new important creative partners are likely to be found on All Smiles. The first is Morrissey.

Morrissey! Rocky, it turns out, is a huge fan, and he's been working remotely with the Pope of Mope over the past year. The former Smiths frontman has been writing, producing, and contributing vocals to the new record, Rocky says. 'Anything you need him to do, he show up and do.'"

I already posted what he said about rap in 2015 - he admires Fear of A Black Planet.

Girl Afraid noticed he's been playing Ice Cube before shows.

Plus Rocky wants to do something retro - so that would appeal.

Your moment is at hand (I hope).

Fear of a Black Planet came out 30 years ago.

Figures you'd say something racist like that
It will keep narrowing.
There's nothing strategic about Morrissey - he talked about rap years ago & it's Rocky who revealed the news. Morrissey, as usual, is drifting about being Morrissey.

He was gushing about Sameer Gadhai - who was on California Son! - at the exact same time everyone was calling him a horrendous racist. And he & his team didn't use it to take the heat off him at all... which, in a way, is nice. Sameer can be sure it's true. Morrissey really does rate him as highly as Elvis.

If you know him you just wait for something interesting to happen, which it does inevitably.

Uh huh. The “Morrissey has always been a fan of hip-hop” is some bottom-of-the-barrel revisionism, even for you.

Since he actually talked about rap & included a track in his show - whereas he's never said or done anything that would imply he's interested in optics - I'm on steadier ground than you are.

It’s a shoo-in.

He must’ve gotten millions of offers through the years. I wonder what made him accept this one. I’m glad he did, though.
He's realised that on his current trajectory he will probably be most remembered as a racist man who supported and campaigned for the far right. A collaboration like this may help limit the damage a little, although the Thelma collaboration didn't seem to make much difference.

It's amazing. I can't imagine reading the press he's had & not dying. But on he goes!
Yes it must be a tough old life being a multi-millionaire, tax-dodging, humasexual anti-immigration immigrant swanning around the globe between his different homes. Yet, somehow he continues to exist. What a guy!

The other one! The one that stood up.
A reminder for tomorrow.....

Just been reminded of this horror!!! State of Jared. 🙄

"Just cos he writes about gayness and gay issues, doesn’t mean he drives up the Marmite motorway, or, for that matter, allows someone to drive up his.

And just because I use euphemisms for anal love that can be interpreted as being derogatory by the self -righteous and the PC brigade DOES NOT mean I’m homophobic.

"It’s just that I prefer to believe the David Bret advocated stance that sez Stevie took a vow of celibacy when the girl he fancied at college (I think her name was Anne Marie?, ‘Half a Person’ was about him chasing a look a like of her) died of cancer

And, no, before anyone accuses me of being a homophobe, I’m not. I just think that this story is much more poignantly romantic than fudge packing Jake or anyone else in a casual manner and I don’t want such a lovely vista to be spoilt.”
