He clearly can't commit to any more live dates any more. No one is going to buy tickets anyway now, not even the diehards, and no one will be promoting, insuring or accepting the bookings because what's the point.

He's 65 this year, expect an announcement of retirement.

I see both, Southpaw and Maladjusted, as artistically valuable, well-balanced albums, but they didn't strike a chord with the times. The shadow of Vauxhall and YA was oversized and he should have toured straight to Vauxhall to cement his popularity.
Yes, but don’t also forget the ill-fated Outsiders tour, where he left band and crew, and Bowie, and fans without a word of explanation.

So some things never change and no one on here needs to be surprised or shocked really.

It may be that there are health issues which he has been struggling with, trying to meet commitments as far as possible. That deserves sympathy if it's the case.

However - and I'm speaking from experience - if you have a chronic or temporarily disabling condition, then you have to accept you can't do everything you used to and adjust your own and everyone else's expectations accordingly. If you're not fit to drive a car you're not a hero for driving a car, you're just putting people in danger. If you can't be sure you'll be able to meet promised engagements, then don't make the engagements. Be honest about what is going on. If you're finding it hard to get up stairs, don't say you can run a marathon. Nobody thinks less of you for admitting you can't do it.

It doesn't seem he's thinking that way at all. To him, he's making the best music of his career. Yet there is quite a disconnect isn't there? He can't get a record deal... he can't seem to complete a tour... he cancels many shows without a word said. Maybe take a break from all the RIP posts and say something to your fans.

To be fair, even that chap from the management company who had that Twitter rant about the Capitol deal said the album itself was great and one of his best. And his sound has actually evolved over the last decade, he isn't simply retreading glammed-up 90s indie rock.

Yes good thing is it’s next week.
Fingers crossed it won’t be cancelled.
A little decency and respect for people/fans who were supposed to be in LA, wouldn't be a luxuary.
Do use other threads for crystal ball predictions.

thewlis i try to be one of the most positive people on here but i think next week and other shows may be cancelled already, just not announced yet.

Yes, they may very well be. Although it’s the 2023 tour continued and he did seem to enjoy those shows as opposed to these two.

We will soon find out.

Someone here mentioned Morrissey is a failed artist. What makes an artist successful? Never canceling? Pleasing the brainwashed masses? Being inoffensive? Making lots money? Attracting large crowds like Taylor Swift?
There seem to be plenty of artists making money by being completely boring. Is that success?
To me, Morrissey has never failed as an artist. His lyrics, singing, and performance make me feel something. His songs make life better. They wake you up and make you think and laugh and sing along and feel understood. I’m extremely sad to not see him tomorrow and Saturday as planned, but I’m even more sad for Morrissey. I can’t understand a world that doesn’t appreciate his music and uniqueness. I’m certain he would have wanted and that he intended to do these shows but for reasons unknown to us, it can’t go on. But at least you can see successful artists like Taylor Swift if you feel Morrisey is a failed artist. I hope Morrissey has many more years of music and I will do my best to get front row tickets the next chance I get.

The RIP posts have become an obsession. A substitute for promoting new music via interviews or videos.
its just that all his favourite people are getting older and older and are dying on a regular basis, one thing you cant escape is death.

"managemr
I think his management team has to realize when he sells out 5 nights in Los Angeles or Vegas it is the same people each night that buy the bulk of the tickets. If he has five nights in Vegas or Los Angeles I will go to all of those nights and a chunk of his fans will to. The problem is, management multiplies 5 nights x 4000-5000 and thinks he can sell out the forum easily. Not realizing the same group tends to buy tickets to all of the nights. Poor management and the wrong people around him have taken him down. But regardless I will buy tickets again and always hope and pray he doesn’t cancel. The balcony fool.
"management team".

He doesn't have one. He has Donnie on retainer to do a few errands, and do thr day to day logistics of tours.

This is on Morrissey. No one else.

I am a complete idiot. Flew in from England for this after not travelling far to see Moz for a long time! I got excited about these gigs, they were going to be special for me for many reasons. I’m not keen on flying and now I’m here I’m not even in the mood to see LA, just feel deflated and would rather be at home. You can all say I told you so and you’re right.

Not this schtick again. There are also pleeeenty of artists who are endlessly interesting and at the same time successful! Only Morrissey and some of his fans seem to think that these things are mutually exclusive.
