Strange/unexpected Moz references?

Cracking pro cover of Irish Blood English Heart (notwithstanding uncredited input of Morrissey's vocals!)

Not sure where to post this, but I was a bit surprised to discover that Zoe Law the celeb photographer with a recent starry exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery featuring Johnny Marr, Noel Gallagher, Irvine Welsh etc is in fact heavily involved with the Tories and has previously been a fundraiser for them. I wonder if Johnny Marr was aware of this when sitting for a portrait and attending the opening......?

This goes to show that what divides Morrissey and Marr is not just politics.

Maybe he’s just not interested. I don’t check the voting history of the person serving me each time I go to Asda.. I mean, Waitrose.

Sure, but I just thought it was interesting given that JM seems to pride himself on his left wing credentials (and be making a point of trying to distance himself from M for what he deems to be a right wing stance - Farage tweets etc....) It just has a whiff of hypocrisy to me...

Do you check out the background of everyone you don't know when you first interact with them?

Nope.......but if I was very vocally left wing and recently mocking an ex bandmate for their politics, I might feel a tad embarrassed by this in retrospect

Noel was the legend in her portfolio, Johnny was just there with his mate. If you want to try and make a big thing of this fill your boots, Thewlis agrees with you so you're on your way.

Exactly. It was a photo exhibition, not a political rally.

Ballroom Blitz is a short TV series presented by Adam Clayton of U2 who takes a look back at the show-band era in Ireland. It aired on RTE 1 TV this December.

In the second episode, from about 42 minutes, the influence of Irish emigrants in England crops up, since so many successful UK pop musicians are of Irish parentage or ancestry. A picture of Morrissey and Marr appears and then the story is told, including a short interview clip with him from earlier, of how Johnny's parents met in the Dreamland ballroom in Athy, where he played a show just this year.

For anyone with any Irish background, or just with general interest in the evolution of music in the twentieth century, this could be a rewarding watch.

Finally, an item appropriate to the title of this thread: Morrrissey mentioned in a media story about restaurant bankruptcies!

"This week on Nation's Restaurant News, the top story was “A bevy of restaurant bankruptcies filled the courts in the past few weeks.” It’s been an awful (and record) year for restaurant bankruptcies so far, and as English singer Morrissey once sang, “November spawned a monster.” Indeed, at least six Chapter 11 filings have been made in the past several weeks alone, impacting everything from eatertainment to chicken and waffles to bakery concepts."
