Morrissey Central "Rebels Without Applause" (November 25, 2022)

FRIDAY, 25 NOVEMBER, 2022 :
First 'single' release in exactly three years.

Morrissey's Rebels Without Applause is available today worldwide (including Britain) on Spotify, courtesy of Capitol Records. The track is produced by Andrew Watt.
This is Morrissey's first 'single' release since 'It's Over', taken from the 'California Son' album in November 2019. 'It's Over' peaked at number 1 in the UK vinyl chart.

Morrissey's next live appearance is on Monday, 28 November at The Anthem in Washington DC.

Just to help Central:
It's Over was released as an instant grat & pre-order bonus - February 25/26, 2019 (followed by Morning Starship - both getting airplay).
It's Over was then nightmarishly released as a physical 7" - (initially December 20, 2019) January 24, 2020.
The first actual "single" from California Son was Wedding Bell Blues 7" - May 10, 2019.
Regards,
FWD.

You lot love to whine about everything Morrissey does. It's a different production style so what? It's still a great f***ing tune! Fun, catchy, excellent bass line, lovely vocal melody and some Morrissey falsetto to top it off. Love it. The only thing missing is a physical release, though I suppose this will do for now.
I like Morrissey's real voice, are you even a fan?

I really think it is, mate!

Well, I wish I did. There has never been another time in his career that he has released music that I have been shocked about regarding the production. Usually, I take to every new track pretty much immediately. That's why this feels so crappy. I just don't like it. 😭

We give honest feedback and get called "whiners".

Or haters. And reading what you have said... We are not either of those things. It's annoying that people cannot take any criticism at all of lord and saviour Moz without firing back with stupid comments and name calling.

Sorry for the name-calling! :)

I just really like it...

Bonaparte Shandy (who does not care for the songs themselves) suggested that Bonfire of Teenagers would be better off shelved, and enjoy the mysterious aura of a "lost album" rather than see the light of day.

Liking the songs very much, I disagreed at the time. But given what the production of Rebels portends, I'm coming around.

I'm afraid I feel exactly the same now. The live versions are so much better as they're not filled with unnecessary crap throughout; they are real and raw. I'm dreading the album now. We have been waiting patiently for so long that I hope if/when it is released it isn't all produced in the same insane way.

I cannot believe multiple people agreed to this being released the way it is. You can tell immediately that it's not up to scratch on first listen. Who thought this was perfect and ready for general release?

As a perfectionist, I cannot imagine M accepting this. But maybe he's just desperate to get something out there after all this time, but it's really not a good look for such a stellar performer.

The small clip of veronica sounded normal, I wont give up on it yet.

Apology accepted. You didn't really name call that much it's really some others that are ardently against any critique that they resort to quite nasty name calling. Mopers is okay. I don't mind that. Haha.

I find it very interesting that some people are absolutely loving the track and at the other end of the spectrum there are people who are hating it. It isn't really criticism of M either. We are criticising Watt and his bizarre production.

I haven't heard anything else Watt has produced so I don't know his style but if this is it then it doesn't really suit M and his vocals at all. I just want things to be perfect in M world but I can't overlook this. Ahhhh...

With your comprehensive (& accurate) knowledge FWD, you should run Central. :thumb:
Allow me to add to FWD's self-praise, and appreciate the efficient and skilled way information is handled on M-Solo. It does not go unnoticed, and we thank you.

Just shooting the breeze here, but wondering if MCentral or equivalent ever requested MSolo to make any of the announcements? And just imagining for a second, what would be the reaction in such a scenario? These days they seem so close that if you reached out your arm in that direction, a hand might stretch across to meet yours and firmly shake it 🤝🫂
