Morrissey Central "Rebels Without Applause" (November 25, 2022)

FRIDAY, 25 NOVEMBER, 2022 :
First 'single' release in exactly three years.

Morrissey's Rebels Without Applause is available today worldwide (including Britain) on Spotify, courtesy of Capitol Records. The track is produced by Andrew Watt.
This is Morrissey's first 'single' release since 'It's Over', taken from the 'California Son' album in November 2019. 'It's Over' peaked at number 1 in the UK vinyl chart.

Morrissey's next live appearance is on Monday, 28 November at The Anthem in Washington DC.

Just to help Central:
It's Over was released as an instant grat & pre-order bonus - February 25/26, 2019 (followed by Morning Starship - both getting airplay).
It's Over was then nightmarishly released as a physical 7" - (initially December 20, 2019) January 24, 2020.
The first actual "single" from California Son was Wedding Bell Blues 7" - May 10, 2019.
Regards,
FWD.

If you listen to Feels - Calvin Harris (feat. Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry & Big Sean), it is very fresh sounding! That track is very well produced. Morrissey should "let them come to him", instead of "go to them" as he has done in this case.
Do you really want M to sound the same always and forever? Would you be happy if he'd just released 10 new versions of Vauxhall after 1994?

This is called innovation and growth... Some like it! Some don't! Live with it! :)

No one on this thread is critizing Morrissey, the song, the lyrics, the melody or the music. So don’t try to make it out that way. Alain Watts and Andrew Munro (I don’t remember their names) are not Morrissey, so please don’t spread this misinformation. The moderators should have a word with you, I think.
For what, pointing out that most of you love nothing more than having a good whine? 😂 It's the main thing I've on here. Go ahead, have a word.

I don't know where you got "M to sound the same always and forever?" from the person's post
i don't think he was saying that. He was on about something else. I have seen you reply to a few people and miss the point by f***ing miles.
I have also commented about the vocal, and nobody is saying he should "sound the same" . Some of us are just saying they should step off messing with his voice. As its the thing we connect with .
As for general production, the flac version of this song, sounds ok.. its not great sound though .

I guess it was more of a general comment... It is, however, the feeling I get from a lot of the comments... "We want M's voice to be mixed and produced exactly as it always has been"... I think this new sound (and it really is new) sounds great! It sounds like the M I love - only different and fresh... It is 100% deliberate and it fits RWA perfectly - I think! :)

I guess we're not bored with Morrissey's real voice.

What kind of auto-tune? It’s just a person bringing some backing vocs in - seems to be Andrew Watt… I actually like those of Alain Whyte more but ok. Regarding BOT one should keep in mind Miley Cyrus is around for some vocals, too.
And overall vocal production: Listen to Watt‘s recent stuff he produced for Iggy Pop. There is some pitch manipulation on. RWA sounds just like Morrissey. He just seems to - willingly - parody himself.

When you listen to the "and" in "and X-Ray Specs" you can cleary hear some digital manipulation, whether you call it auto-tune or not. When you're not a 'sound nerd' you call everything like this auto-tune.

Yes... In that particular middle section there is very obvious (supposed to be very obvious) pitch manipulation... I like that! M treating his voice as an instrument... But in the rest of the song I don't believe there is any autotune...

You raise a good point. Age and all the concerts probably haven't been kind to Moz's ears.

or it’s your ‘good’ ears that are the problem? ;)
