It seemed more like a semi-psychotic rant.

Sometimes that's the way to go with a critique. The aesthetic was always weird. The puffy basketball sneakers, the black leggings, the hair and make-up; I never understood it. It was too cartoonish to be considered respectably "goth."

Well, you’re in great company! Robert always rejected the ‘goth’ label as well!

The cure are wistful, whimsical, playful, moody, melancholy, but not goth. Robert smith is like a little black rain cloud who dreams of summer days. Once again, audrey has completely misapprehended the situation.

That's the thing: I don't consider their music to be "goth," either. That's why I put it in quotes. I know the Cure are whimsical and playful. Some of their lyrics are so cutesy and saccharine, they break the scale.

It's a perfect day for making out
To wake up with a smile without a doubt
To burst, grin, giggle, bliss, skip, jump, sing and shout!
Let's get happy!

Robert Smith probably wishes he could've been a dapper, handsome mod like Paul Weller was in the 70s.

Dont we all?! 😍

Phew I thought you were about to write a two page essay about the meaning and expression of the goth scene and robert smiths role in it

And some are so morbid and bleak, they break the other scale. There are worlds upon worlds inside that weird, sweet little man they call Robert Smith.

That song is much more nuanced than you want to suggest. It’s like a back and forth between two people (the two Roberts?). One who is (psychotically?) happy and one who is doom and gloom.
"But it's much too late" you say
"For doing this now
We should have done it then
", is repeated throughout, in between the outbursts of the happy Robert. And by the time we get to the last verse, the happy one is finally starting to lose it, strongly suggesting that he was indeed unwell all along:
Tear out the pages with all the bad news
Pull down the mirrors and pull down the walls
Tear up the stairs and tear up the floors
Oh just burn down the house
Burn down the street
Turn everything red and the dream is complete
With the sound of your world
Going up in fire

Robert Smith probably wishes he could've been a dapper, handsome mod like Paul Weller was in the 70s.

What shallow thinking. I do however think Weller wishes he had the same strong back catalog as Robert. And that it was his new album, 66 (a really good album, don’t get me wrong!), that was critically lauded in the same way as Songs of a Lost World and at the top or near the top of most end-of-the-year lists.

No, Weller’s little outburst was crude, obnoxious and not even funny. He should leave the put downs to his mate Noel, who has wit and charm.

you ever see the clip where he does a finger counting song and realizes mid song the process is gonna leave him holding up both hands flipping the bird. funny moment. the documentary a few years back was good as well

Guess new Micheal Jackson songs are coming circa 89-91. Curious to see the reception. Some have been teased before and some haven’t seen the light of day anywhere. About 12 tracks

Source? Can’t find anything.

Thanks! I don’t know where Trans got the idea that a new album was coming. It’s very clear that that is not the case. Which is a damn shame. He made some very interesting music during those years.
