glastonbury,,,,200,000 in a field for three days and every year i try and count how many black people are in the crowd,it is miniscule and yet there are a bunch of black artists, always been curious about that.
then there is the hypocrisy of hundreds of palestinian flags being waved at a music festival when other young israelis were gunned down at a music festival,as for shitting in a bucket for three days you wonder who smells worse the party-goer or the cow in the field next door.

Aye, well said. I've never heard of three quarters of the acts...and I'm only 72. It's about time my fave, Aled Jones, headlined...on all three nights. As for the flags, yup, totally agree.
At least, gordy, they tidied their mess up afterwards

A quick Google search (try it sometime!) brought up this article that addresses your question. It seems to be mostly down to the history of the type of music UK festivals have included. I myself have an aversion to unkempt camping in a field. I'm reminded of a Maya Angelou quote I read recently, in which she says there is a traditional saying: "You have been white all your life. Ain't got no further along than this?"

there has been loads of black artists at glastonbury.
kendrik lamarr.
stevie wonder.
beyonce.
diana ross.
jay z.
stormzy.
lenny kravitz.
watch on youtube and you will struggle to see any black people, maybe it doesnt interest them.

The article, and my comment on it, stresses the history. Glastonbury started in 1970. Lenny Kravitz (whose father was of European origin) first appeared in 1993. The others you mention came much later: Jay-Z in 2008; Stevie Wonder in 2010; Beyonce in 2011; Diana Ross in 2020; Stormzy and Kendrick Lamar in 2022. Some of these artists, being older, would most likely have many older fans who wouldn't necessarily be in the habit of festival-going if their favourite artists didn't usually appear there. If you'd noticed my posting history, you'd have seen that I've posted quite a few videos from Glastonbury, including one a few days ago, and whilst I'm not focused on the skin-colour of the audience, I believe The Guardian's article (by a musician who has an interest in this) gives a good insight for anyone concerned about it.

Bunnigram is the best thing on the net!!

Just look at this magnificent beast of a bunny!! 😍

its a good thing i didnt decide to go to the manics on july 5th because westjet, which is what i would have used to fly into london, has been on strike for the last couple of days and even though they've been ordered back to work theres still going to be flight cancellations for a while into the future. everyone i know who has booked holidays in july has been cancelling them. so now i dont feel bad about it because it probably wouldnt have worked out anyway!

Oh sweetie…. It’s such a shame that you can’t afford to travel and see the Manics/Suede 😞
Anyway I’ll post you a few pictures on here from the 15th July gig that I’ll be attending.

Haha! You can now eff off to Rwanda yourself Rishi instead of sending other people there, see how you like it!

Tosser.
