Morrissey announces the close down of the present U.S. tour with "unimaginable sorrow".
On Saturday, June 7th, following the show at Boston Opera House, Morrissey collapsed and was rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital where doctors treated Morrissey for "acute fever". Difficulties had arisen on May 31st following Kristeen Young's opening set at the Miami Knight Concert Hall, after which Kristeen confessed to "a horrendous cold", the symptoms of which were passed on to Morrissey resulting in the cancellation of the next show in Atlanta.
For the good of all, Kristeen was asked to step down from the immediate upcoming shows, but instead she decided to leave the tour entirely. Morrissey and the band wish her well and hope she is now in good health.
Morrissey received medical attention in Miami, and once again in Boston, but it was not enough to shake off the virus, the recovery time for which is too lengthy to meet the final 9 shows of the tour.
Morrissey and the band are otherwise delighted and very grateful for their experiences on the U.S. tour, some shows of which they considered to be their best-ever, most notably:

1 BOSTON Opera House
2 LOS ANGELES Sports Arena
3 BEAUMONT Julie Rogers Theater
4 NASHVILLE Ryman Auditorium
5 MEMPHIS Orpheum Theater

I showed up at a venue yesterday only to find out that the band had cancelled about an hour before doors were to open. The show had been an instantly-sold-out New York City event and folks were scrounging for the few remaining, overpriced tickets. There was not a peep about the cancellation anywhere online - nary a post or a tweet. I had to call folks coming in from out of state and tell them not to bother. I checked Solo later that night and saw that Morrissey had also cancelled. Not a great week for music.

Morrissey is not the only act to drop shows at a moment's notice, nor is he the only singer who battles respiratory infections. He must, however, be the world record holder for cancellations, reschedules and stormings-off.

I had a feeling that he wouldn't make it to Brooklyn, so much so that I never even bothered to buy a ticket. It's not that I didn't want to see him, but I just knew he wouldn't make it. I feel for the man - his myriad dysfunctions seem to finally be getting the best of him.

May he figure out how to move forward, for everyone's sake.

It's back online, no updates.

One of our regular posters is missing, cause for concern peoples !
She's such a dedicated fan I am worried the latest cancel has had a very deep impact and has possibly sent her over the edge !
lynnda are you ok ? Do you know lynnda ? It's not like her to not join in at times like this,

Get in touch lynnda people are worried.

I wouldn't want to work with her after this. A lot of things go on in music industry and you are supposed to keep it to yourself. It is not her tour and she was very lucky to even be a part of it.

So she's supposed to let him just say what he wants about her regardless of how that affects her? It's more like nobody would want to work with him knowing that if something goes wrong it's going to be their fault. Take off your blinders. He is a man, not a god.

Oh, you mean like,

"How was your first contact with Morrissey music? And your first meeting ?

It was dangerous sex, the meaning of life, and the best chocolate cake I’ve ever had. (same answer for both questions)"

or

"I am passionately in love with Morrissey. I grew up listening to his music, so part of what I am is formed by him. The first time I heard the Smiths I was 14 and my boyfriend played me Hatful Of Hollow. I lived in the Midwest, I had no brothers or sisters, and the radio only played the mainstream. This was something different. I played that album over and over again. The whole thing is unreal. This man, who I think is the greatest lyricist that ever existed and who I've worshipped since I was a teenager, is now my friend." [She was 20 when his first album was released.]

or

"Morrissey gives great head...I mean cunnilingus."

???

Hail queen Crystal!

This. I feel he does have health issues but this stand for truth of hers just smacks of promo for her new LP, IMO. It's not as if she never lies when it suits her.

So Kristeen made him sick, why the surprise?

She's been making a lot of us sick for years.

Another selfish a-hole. He was taken out by ambulance in Boston- I saw it pull up to the venue. He made it to Baltimore and he intended on continuing. The man obviously had health issues. He doesn't need " fans" like you.

Can a concert ticket-holding, plane ticket holding, rental car reserving, babysitter's lined up, hotel's booked---fan vent a little? I guess that must make me a selfish a-hole. So, what does it mean you are? An appreciated fan? I think not. You're just a pointless ass kisser. You are barking up the wrong tree and to me that would indicate that you lack intelligence, but if you're a big Moz fan I guess you can't be all that bad, so I forgive you for calling me a selfish a-hole. I guess it was a selfish act when I bought myself a concert ticket, and looked forward to a show. How dare I? Ok, I am not wasting another 20 seconds on this stupidity....

of course, he's human and humasexual, but you forget that everything what remains is the fact that his 'name carries' everything.

objective truth and causes of starting certain stories/cases/issues here are relevant for those who dare or want to analyze and judge, but irrelevant knowing the essence of all arguments here. :) am i wrong or the name of this forum isn't 'MORRISSEY solo'?!

p.s. apologies

True to you has been online every time I've tried it - all day. It's fine on my phone and fine on my laptop.

I can't work out if you are all genuinely having problems viewing it or if you are trying to make out there's some sort of mysterious problem with it / big announcement due just to create drama. Sorry if it's a genuine problem you're all having, but you never know on this site.

I have been reflecting on this news for the last few days. It is indeed very sad, and such a grubby end to what started with a flash of excitement and some intrigue: a cache of new songs, those novel and artistic spoken word videos - and then this. As someone who has followed Morrissey's career since seeing The Smiths on The Meat is Murder tour, this is an all time low. We've followed him through the 'wilderness years', the triumph of the Quarry 'comeback' to arrive at this. I expect World Peace will disappear from view mere days after its issue and the haters will have fun with their "I told you so's". I just hope Morrissey is mentally okay, or as mentally ok as Morrissey can be. This has to be the nadir of his career.

Stupid question from a new fan, since there really isn't a lot of real information about him out there- have there been any tours that have ended or any other major impacts on his career due to emotional issues? I've only heard that he left the Bowie tour due to mental issues.

Consistent with his autobiography, he'll blame anyone other than himself.

Genuine.

Like this place needs any more drama.

Morrissey is a man.....not a god. He's an artist and he's touched a lot of people. Reading these posts...it's obvious that many so called fans have never really listened to what the man has been getting at all of these years.

One day Morrissey will die and so will all of the anonymous pukes that have posted their meaningless babel here on this site. So shut the hell up.....no one cares about your thoughts.

To the real fans and admirers.....Cheer up....He's still with us....he's got a great band and a new album coming out soon.

What's interesting is that I have 3 tickets to canceled shows at The Whiting in Flint Michigan...for the first show I drove there, for the second show I almost drove there but thought-I better check online and see if everything is set, and now this third time---I have plenty of notice.

I've seen Morrissey many times but had to wait 4 years from when I wanted him to tour the USA-"Vauxhall and I" to when he did tour the USA-"Maladjusted"(saw him 4 times on that tour). I was really looking forward to this concert because I haven't been to one of his since "You are the Quarry", though I've kept up with the albums.

I also have canceled tickets for Ian Brown and OMD, so it happens, though these shows were probably canceled due to poor sales.

Anyway, Morrissey, get well & give it another go for FLINT---Fours a Charm.

I am utterly gutted over the cancellation. Typical of the Irish male the "fightin' Irish" never to know when the boot is on your neck. A phrase comes to mind- I will cut off my nose to spite my face. It's impossible to make sense of the senseless.
