I was at the Jools Holland show and he did 3 songs. The other 2 are ... ' I wish you lonely ' and 'all the young people must fall in love ' ... got so close to him but yet so far... thought we might see them in the bar after , but no.

Note posted by Johnny Barleycorn:

This edition is the short version. The full show will be on Friday.

The National ' This is for you Morrissey' (song: Carin at the Liqor Store)

now All the young people.

I agree with the message, but that isn't the point. The contradiction just struck me. We will never know if the band members agree with the message or not, all we know is they HAVE to wear the T-shirts whether they like it or not. Hope this clears up the error in your thinking.

what 'contradiction' ?

they do what they are told. It's a f***ing job. Any member could always leave.

p.s. where's the songs you said he played ? waiting....

People are proud of their ignorance these days. Proud of being a hypochondriac, proud of being afraid of everything, proud of being selfish geeks. I was front row at the Nik Kershaw acoustic concert on Thurs night and these three fat women sat down in my row and talked loudly all through the concert. Every time someone said 'shush' they smiled and talked even louder. The only sane response to that is to have a polite chainsaw conversation with them.

THIS!

I had friends once that were proud not to know things or pretend they didn't know. In some settings playing stupid is the coolest thing. Americans took that to a new level most of the time.

Nowadays it is exactly as you describe it and it is even hard to interact in any way with the younger generations. Insecurity and distancing yourself from others was taught by most 90's tv shows including "Friends" who only taught the kids back then to not become friends with anyone.

The tv world releases these things to alter the mind of people, mostly the young ones, and so far they've done a hell of a job. If you consider how some young ones have only communicated via their mobile it is easy to see why they are the way they are.

No errors in my thinking. You might like to check yours.

P.S. that p.s. of yours is thickness itself.

now I Wish You Lonely

I really like that Khalid track. A great performance and judging by his huge smile at the end he knew it too. I can’t help but think though that if I’d danced like that in my yoot I’d have been thrown out of the club.

I suppose in thirty five years he’ll be writing about nuclear weapons and when will Brexit happen.

All the Young People seems lyrically to be two different songs tacked together.

So does Spent. And quite a few on WP. That might be why he said at one he had loads of material.

He’s getting through more gaffer tape than the road crew.

The National finish with an impassioned plea for the people of Tyne & Wear to sort themselves out. Nice touch.

God, modern music is rubbish.
