I was at the Jools Holland show and he did 3 songs. The other 2 are ... ' I wish you lonely ' and 'all the young people must fall in love ' ... got so close to him but yet so far... thought we might see them in the bar after , but no.

Having contradictory political beliefs doesn’t necessarily mean you have mental health problems. The vast percentage of voters in democratic countries will vote for different parties over their lifetimes. If they didn’t the same party would get in time and time again.

Obama needed a lot of whites to get him to the Oval Office twice. Many of those same people, plus women, blacks and Hispanics decided Hillary wasn’t for them and voted for Donald Trump.

In Eskilstuna only one party has ruled from the beginning of time or beginning of democracy. With the help of other parties in recent years but they still call the shots.

What troubles me with Moz is that he doesn't seem aware that UKIP is the same as Trump if you get to the core of it. I am absolutely certain he says controversial things for the sake of being controversial. It's never deep rooted in himself. It is like he's just choosing what kind of chocolate he prefers at the time.

Could still mean his mind isn't his own.
Wondering now who owns it.
I know he sings "you" but it can be as meant for himself too.
And for other people.
Like his band members whose minds are owned by him.

"Your mind isn't your own" he sings, as his band members all have to wear T-shirt he prescribed...

I replied to the above post with the 'eye roll' because I thought his post was ridiculous.

the poster Sidnettle said or was implying that the bands minds are not their own because M wants them to wear particular t-shirts during his show. I guess James Brown's band didn't have minds of their own because Brown made them wear suits and fined them for any bum notes.

My problem with the new song is the lack of wit and strong melody. You can hum First of the Gang, the More you Ignore me or even You have killed me. This one I can't. You do get the hint of melody but it truncates before it gets going. There's an unwanted rush to the limp chorus that annoys in the worst possible way. It's hog-tied to itself. The lyrics and notion of spending a life/day in bed really don't say much to me. "No bus, no boss, no rain, no train" is just schoolboy antics really. Did Bart Simpson write that?

You just perfectly expressed and well argumented, a reasonable and valuable statement and I completely understand what you mean.

But I just have a different opinion. I can hum a long very easily with "Spent" and for one reason or the other I can't get the " exit, exit, exit,
(brexit?) chorus at the end of "Jacky" (which at first listen didn't bother me at all) out of my mind. :head-smack:
:)

I know what you mean Ket and I agree with you.
I suppose if Moz would have his band members dashed out in the suits the James Brown band wore he would be accused of cultural #$%@&&(&%, forgot the word. In any case he would be accused of stealing culture from somebody. Just like with the Baldwin shirt.

What also struck me is the critics only condemn the different shirts because they don't like the message of what it implies.
They wouldn't have problems with it if the message was to their liking and political opinion! Than you would hear nothing about sloganeering. The hippocrates.

Have a read of this - https://www.newstatesman.com/culture/2013/01/morrissey-i-nearly-voted-ukip

So, as far back as 2013, before all these issues became popular with the public.

Yes, I and everyone else know but you cannot nearly shoot a hare as we say in Sweden (sort of).
I'm not familiar with that term? lol But UKIP are not the same as Trump. There is a group called 'Britain First' which could be the vision you had of UKIP. The aim Nigel had with starting UKIP was to take voters away from the British National Party, which he did.

So you think Moz is actually a Trump supporter? Or not actually a UKIP/Brexit supporter at all?

I tentatively think this song is fantastic.
I enthusiastically think it is. It's so far from predictable, music wise. And anybody complaining about it being loose around the edges, that's precisely why I like it. There's some real joy to the music.

He once happened to stay in a hotel where Trump stayed too.
He said about that: I've never been nearer to an open grave.

Yes, this.

As much as I think the introduction of keyboards around 2004 was the downfall of his solo material, I love the smattering of keys here.

Well whatever his true opinion on Trump is, he has lots of Mexican fans doesn't he...so I guess he had to play it that way :)

Until Saturday night. Satiate the need.

Here’s your chosen illusion

All I can hear is 'give peace a chance' by that ex Beatle and his wife. It would be very amusing though if the video showed Steve and Diesel spending the day in their 5 star luxury bed and surroundings whilst singing along to it.

I agree with the message, but that isn't the point. The contradiction just struck me. We will never know if the band members agree with the message or not, all we know is they HAVE to wear the T-shirts whether they like it or not. Hope this clears up the error in your thinking.

Aren't Farage and Trump best buddies?
