Morrissey Central "MILEY IS A PUNK ROCKER" (December 24, 2022)

Miley Cyrus now wants to be taken off the song ‘I Am Veronica’ for which she volunteered backing vocals almost two years ago. This comes at a time when Morrissey has disassociated himself with Capitol Records (Los Angeles), who control the hidden album ‘Bonfire of Teenagers’.
Above, Morrissey and Miley during Miley’s session for ‘I Am Veronica’.

For someone who has been releasing records for almost 40 years, it is batshit how often he’s managed to conjure situations like this, for the benefit of absolutely nobody.

Miley Cyrus is a Smiths fan, we know this. I find it hard to believe that she’s walked away from a job that’s long-since finished without good reason, and if it is indeed contractual because of a flubbed announcement on Central then that’s staggering incompetence on the Moz side.

Musicians turn up for guest spots at studios all the time, and once they’ve done their bit, the relevant management and lawyers get their heads together to ensure all is well, credits are in order and payments are agreed.

If that Bonfire blurb was management-produced and it’s caused problems, that explains the management going bye-bye. but if they’ve gone because the words were an SER concoction, it surely has to be the death knell for his involvement with his uncle’s career.

Despite Moz’s frequent outbreaks of toxicity, there are a lot of extremely competent people in the industry who would work with him. I really wish somebody would sit him down and just sort him out. The music industry is nowhere near as complicated as he likes to paint it.

I wonder if it’s as ludicrous as Capitol paid for the studio time, but have lost the Miley guest spot due to someone external to them cocking up and now don’t think the album’s marketable to a point they’re happy with without her.

Crazy thing is, whatever the problem is, it’ll have a dollar amount attached to it to solve, and he could do it tomorrow if he launched a crowdfunder taking money for physical album presales. But there again, he needs competent people around him to make that happen,

My overall theory anyway of how Centrals content matrix works anyway. Given the events of the last 48hrs I think it’s pretty accurate.

1. Morrisssy emails Sam direct copy - Sam publishes content.

2. Morrissey emails Sam verbatim content (I.e non confirmed scheduled UK dates) - Sam publishes it, with no amendment or nuance.

3. Sam seems content on M-Solo (not necessarily original content but perhaps aggregated) - Sam responds with denial

Perhaps when it came to potential physical release, Colombia demanded a ridiculous fee for the appearance hence this situation

I don’t know if it’s her fault. Think it’s Central’s fault for announcing the name of an artist that was supposed to be unnamed/uncredited.

I’d still like to get the studio version to hear what she adds to the song before I decide if it was a good idea to involve her or not. Hope the album gets leaked so we could hear that version. We may all love it.

They shoulda just got Ann Coates to sing it.

Moz has something..... An ace up the sleeve!!! This raro.es suspicious

Yeah Central hasn’t been helping his public image much, to say the least, lol.

I think it’s just Sam’s bad attempt at damage control or something, because of the Scott Rodger tweet sent out the night before. I don’t know, it’s just a mess as usual.

Yeah, I guess it would depend on the contract and how much control they have (?)

I’m just worried that they will release it without his blessings, and when he tours next
he’ll purposefully refuse to do songs from it.
Don’t worry. By the time he tours again, he’ll already have 10, 11 or 12 new songs written and recorded. Several (but not all) will be co-writes with Alain and many people are looking forward to hearing those.

@ Morrissey Please remove ALL guest vocals from your old album that hasn’t been released yet. The bloody thing is over two years old now!

Also, stop shaking hands with music moguls and release your records independently. We are starting to lose interest.

Release it w/o Veronica. Rerecord it during the next sessions for a single or b-side. Problem solved. I'm not sure why everyone is acting like Morrissey is at fault here.
Veronica seems to have been popular with fans among the new songs, so maybe Capitol wouldn't be happy about releasing the album without it.

That’s why I’m leaning more towards the idea that this really is between Columbia and Capitol, not Miley and Morrissey. I could be totally wrong, lol. But I think it’s Columbia looking after their investment and for whatever reason, they wanted her uncredited or Capitol would have to pay big dollar for using the Miley name.
True $$$
Honestly Miley loves Morrissey. That's the truth. Always has. She lives and loves Music.

This is Morrissey flexing. Showing the PR people how easy it is for him to generate headlines. Notice how he suggests its Miley that wants her vocal taken off, like its personal rather than contractual. He's hoping Miley will respond, either to confirm or deny. He's creating traffic, making waves. If she responds he'll be trending. There is no point in having Miley on the album unless the association generates publicity.

July 9 show, Morrissey confirming Miley Cyrus sang the backing vocals on I am Veronica, then he goes on to talk about how much her loves her

This is the July 1 show with Miley Cyrus on the backing vocals

I feel quite lucky to have heard the live version with Miley's vocals blaring out on the backing tape, as that will doubtless be removed from any future live performances, and probably wiped from history on any future album release. A little glimpse of what might have been.
