"Low In High School" album cover posted by Linder on Instagram

Linder just posted what seems to be the cover of the new album! Nothing you wouldn't have expected from Morrissey, to be quite honest...

UPDATE 3:30 PM PT:
Image has been removed from Linder's Instagram.

According to a FB post by James Maker which shows said cover (Follow-up posted by Famous when dead: "James Maker has since clarified the issue - HMV is the problem"):

I publish this in support of a friend, and in the cause of democracy. Trade and Retail* have informed BMG that they will refuse to handle Morrissey's new album, 'Low in High School' on the grounds that the sleeve art is "offensive". Thus, the entire campaign is in jeopardy unless Morrissey and his record company rethink the album cover. x

(* The HMV chain refuse to stock it.)

BOYCOTT HMV !!!! :rock::rock::rock::rock::rock::rock:

couldn't stop his success with the 'one purchase per person sticker' so now they're pulling this shit.

I HOPE IT'S A PUBLICITY STUNT ON TOP OF IT, SIMPLY BECAUSE IF YOU'RE IN THIS BUSINESS YOU GOTTA PLAY DIRTY.

could be any kid, my opinion, the kid's just a way of saying that... even a kid could see that the monarchy or any authority that abuses it's power is crap and should be AXED !!!

Also, judging by this cover... wonder if there will be any political songs on this album ?

Like it better than 'Southpaw' and the 'Maladjusted' cover. Maybe they'll move it inside and choose another cover.

.

I hope he stands his ground.
In that case I see T-shirts for sale at Mporium.
f*** HMV
Axe the monarch.y
In white please, and Gothic style black text.
With some bloodred spatters on it.
Thanks in advance. :)

what have the monarchy done that was an abuse of their power?

Maybe not the best choice of words, but I feel it does get to the point I was making in that post. Which is whatever M see's the monarchy as doing they must be doing something wrong in his eyes in order for him to choose that image for the cover.

The only thing offensive about that cover is the hideously poor design.

the more I look at this cover the more fake it looks, its clumsy, the word axe and the prop axe,you wouldn't use the two of these in the one scene, the childlike writing, full stop in the wrong position, wearing a Morrissey shirt with the word Morrissey above, once again repeating, thats one thing directors always watch out for in a scene.

It's not a great cover anyway. Too posed. If having this stupid cover means the album doesn't get released or doesn't sell well then Moz is a total crankfraud who doesn't deserve a record deal. I hope this cover is a joke. Take away the daft axe. Sheesh.... Moz is as subtle as a.... well as an axe.

But those are all points why I start to, hesitatingly so, beginning to like it.
It grows on you. :D

It's a stroke of genius if you ask me...if it gets plenty of coverage and controversy. Even if he decides to alter it for release it still gets the album much needed attention. At the same time it's a bit too on the nose. The sign could have read "Ask The Monarchy" and clever ones will get the play on the word "ask" since the boy is holding an axe. That might have been more clever.

It's a bad cover for many reasons. Firstly you have take a young child, regardless of who he is related to, put an axe in his hand and declared him to be anti-monarchy. This child is not old enough to have studied the history of the monarchy and formed his own opinions. Secondly, personally, I am a member of the Canadian Legion. Canada as you know is tied to the monarchy. My grandfather faught in WWII which is why I joined. As part of my allegiance to the Legion I can't buy an album with this cover art.

Is this satire? It has to be. Maybe? No? Okay.

He should have photoshopped that photo of the girl standing against the London police with her Smiths Hatful Of Hollow tshirt, using a new image for his new album on her shirt.

Thats my view as well, its to generate publicity but it will also alienate him even more from people who think he is a tit.

Oh no, please God let this be fake, or let it not be too late to change.
It's wrong on so many levels. Effectively the same slogan from 30 years but just ridiculously clumsy and nuance-free (what next, Meat Eaters are Meanies?). A slogan that dominates the actual album title. If he wants to call the album 'Axe the Monarchy, then just call the album 'Axe the Monarchy'. A child who doesn't seem to have a clue what's going on. The only positive aspect is that he's dropped the pointless apostrophe.

the cover is a bit tacky and not in a fun fioruccis kind of way. i suspect that has something to do with the gaudy gates in the background. that kid has a great look though--he especially suits the morrissey shirt--and reminds me of one of those goofy unassuming kids who grow up to be forces to be reckoned with. he needs a different background.

More predictable, unimaginative drivel from the media-whoring camp of a once relevant icon. Let the music speak. HMV won't carry it? LOL! HMV will stock ANYTHING that sells. After its release date, if you can't find it at your local, it won't be due to some socio-political cover-art controversy.

...it'll be because the record is garbage and isn't worth carrying.

Prove me wrong Morrissey.

f***. If that's Moz's game then he's not much better than the Miley Cyrus's and Katie Perry's of this world. Whatever happened to his belief in letting the music speak for itself? I'm judging Moz and probably shouldn't just on the basis of a shit cover.

Everyone who names an album The Queen Is Dead or Meat Is Murder certainly doesn't let the music speak for itself.
