English version:

The Audio of DER SPIEGEL's Interview with Morrissey
British pop singer Morrissey has accused DER SPIEGEL of falsely quoting him in a recently published interview. The magazine stands behind its reporting and has made the decision to post the audio online in response.

On Friday, Nov. 10, DER SPIEGEL culture reporter Juliane Liebert told her editors that she had been offered an interview with British popstar Morrissey and that a decision needed to be made quickly on whether to accept. We agreed: The former lead singer of The Smiths doesn't shy away from speaking his mind - and he also doesn't grant interviews very often.

The following Monday, Liebert flew to Los Angeles, where she was to interview Morrissey on Tuesday. The interview appointment got delayed several times before finally taking place on Wednesday and lasting 40 minutes. Edited versions of interviews published in DER SPIEGEL are usually authorized by the interview subject before publication, consistent with established procedure in German journalism. But in this instance, Morrissey's team elected to forego authorization.

After its publication on Nov. 18 in DER SPIEGEL, the interview (available behind the SPIEGEL Plus paywall in German) generated headlines not only in the German-language media. English publications like the Independent also wrote about Morrissey's statements regarding Trump, Brexit, the #MeToo debate and questions of national identity.

The musician then sought to distance himself from the published interview. "Unless you see the words form in my mouth and then you see or hear the words come out of my mouth... please, if you don't see that, I didn't say them," he told fans at a concert. He said he would never grant an interview to a print journalist again.

On Monday, Morrissey followed up with a post on his official Facebook page casting doubt on whether his statements had been reflected accurately by DER SPIEGEL. He also alleged that the fact that the magazine had not yet posted the raw audio of the interview was tantamount to an indirect admission of guilt.

To counter that claim, the editors of DER SPIEGEL have decided to post the audio of the interview online.

Morrissey defends sex abusers-what a load a rubbish.

If you listen to the interview he is merely pondering the modern day witch hunt which sexual abuse has become. Nobody on here or Moz himself is going to condone rape or any genuine form of abuse. But, we now live in an age were women are reporting someone squeezing their bum in 1960, and the Police actually look into it.

I personally was attacked in the street in 2012 for no reason, someone used my head as a trampoline on what is known as mad Friday here in the UK, the Police were present, they did nothing about it, they put it down to a drunken night, no arrests, no nothing. I was concussed for 2 months, and have had Tinnitus ever since.

The point I make is that today in 2017 its ok to stamp on someones head, but if you pinched a woman's bum in 1960 expect a prison sentence, the laws a f***in joke, the country is a f***in joke, and people wonder why Moz isn't his usual witty self on LIHS,

Didn't morrissey himself LIE about being sexually abused at school, in his autobiography?
Anyone who knows anything about morrissey knows he's a liar.

He doesnt care about ruining careers and lives of others.
He is losing his grasp on what power he had , I forsee an Albert Goldman type morrissey biography and its gonna be his own fault, sacking a band member by putting a postcard on the car window, stealing money from the bass player and drummer and saying 'well they don'tknow about business', not paying band members, one had a handicap child, lying about why he canceled gigs, lying about his drink, drug habits, making anti semetic comments, being bought off by Israel, throwing his support singer under the bus, trying to use the Paris tragedy as advertising campaign for his song.
There are lots and lots of other things. The guy awful.

Whoever clicked Troll, ask yourself this.....You can either have your bum pinched or your head stamped on multiple times, which is worse?

Some good arguments on both sides, amongst the crap

And how many people were jailed this year for pinching woman butt and how many for head stamping ? Seriously...

when asked about the jacky-brexit-interpretations he answers: "this is the silliness i have to live with."
the german article in the print version referring to this quote is entitled with "die idiotie, mit der ich leben muss." (the idiocy i have to live with).

silliness does not mean idiocy. the headline incorrectly presents him here as an angry, humorless man using strong words to get his point across. that's the opening undertone that influences how the reader perceives and understands morrissey's following words in the article.

the german headline can also be read as if he is talking about living with a disease (idiocy) which made me wonder immediately after having opened the pages what the true intention of this article was.

the journalist seems to be very young and insecure, thus signalling people that she can be trusted. i dont know who (an editor?) or what made her choose this quote as a headline and then change it in such an unfavorable way.

It’s interesting how immigrants can become the most fanatic nationalists. Morrissey is Irish, as populist politician Geert Wilders in Holland is in fact Indonesian. What are they compensating for?

Not only that but he emigrated. I suppose it's just other immigrants who tamper with National identity and make a place less like that country. Brown people. Not Morrissey though.

Moz should have just released the first part of his statement and left it at that.
I guess both kinds of fans got their wish this year.
Those who love Moz got a great new album.
Those who hate Moz, got more reason to hate.
You have to admit, the man delivers.

What does he deliver? More lies and racism?

Not sure? But how many people get battered on the streets without any Police involvement? Their are no stats
