Morrissey Central “REBELS WITHOUT ASSISTANCE” (December 22, 2022)

"It's been quite sad. The absence of any promotion is noticeable. It's devastating how no one can ever get this right. But they can't, or they won't. Radio stations, as far as I can tell, will play just about anything they're asked to. But as I've always said, true artists must always look after themselves whereas non-artists are encouraged and advanced beyond reason. When you walk through a storm hold your head up high … as the song goes!"

Morrissey in conversation, Los Angeles, December 2022.

Yes, it would!

I suspect the only possible route now (as a lot of people have made up their minds about him and on big parts of Twitter* his name is synonymous with racist/bigot) is simply to put out a run of 3 or 4 amazing albums which can't be ignored because they're too good.

*Yes, I know that Twitter is not the world, and there are plenty of fans left who simply don't care about the politics stuff.
I think that's a bit naiive, & you're asking for the impossible, there.

Does he really, honestly, have 3 or 4 more good albums in him which people just can't ignore &, more importantly, labels want so much that they fall over themselves to sign him for? Be honest. Does he really?

Yes but posting on solo complaining as people do, doesn’t influence or change M or get anyone closer to a album? So it’s futile and a bit bizarre, don’t you think?

Its not something I'd do. I just like to stay positive and have fun on here. I enjoy liaising with fellow fans and I think this is the flagship place to do that on the web. Maybe people complaining is futile, maybe it isn't. We just don't know. It's good that there is a full resource on here to do things other than complain too 😂

I don't think its lost on anyone (including the Moz camp) that this is the one stop shop to garner opinion on his Morrissey Central posts.

I hope all are well x

People vent to make themselves feel better, nobody is claiming it is going to help the situation.
But they post relentlessly as if it will.
It's just a bonus if Morrissey discovers what his fans really think.

Do you really think he would view these criticisms posted by his fans? Do you think
he would call these posters his fans?

The alternative is just a bunch of Moz bots with nothing to say.
No different than haters with nothing to say and saying it repeatedly.

The media is free to twist his words after he has an interview with Fiona. I don't think it's a situation he can entirely win and maybe he should go for broke and collaborate with other interviewers.

He’s obviously trying to control the situation as best as he can, on his own terms, and yet still expresses himself.

They say things repeatedly because Moz doesnt learn from his mistakes and there's nothing else to do on a forum than "say what you see".

I’d love to say I’m wrong. But how long have folks been complaining on here, and how long has Morrissey continued being Morrissey.

I have not been on here for that long so you will have seen a lot more than myself. There is a hint at a change or two though, in a central post recently they said there is no album deal for without music and other distribution methods are being explored... 🤔

Yes, and ‘see’ is the keyword, or maybe, ‘say won’t you don’t see’ and expand on that, lol.
No, yes I agree. Then we’ll have to blame human nature for this inbuilt folly.

And, at least you agree with me that Morrissey most likely wouldn’t view that the criticisms posted on solo are actually from fans.
Is he that fragile that he cant handle criticism from people that call themselves fans? I simply don't know.

He did once sing "The critics who can't break you. They somehow help to make you" so he must see some worth.

You take that back!

Morrissey is at this very moment reclining on a (faux) leopard skin chaise longue while Fiona pops grapes in his mouth as he motions a finger and Sam scrolls down the page of Morrissey-solo for him and he utters the words

I do wonder what Lionsy has to say about me today

:lbf: if only.

I wish I was wrong. But the relentless criticisms posted on solo never have and never will influence or change Morrissey.

never said that there isn’t the probability that Sam or fans of Sam sometimes visit here. But it would be silly to imagine that Sam relays back to M the pages of criticism that gets posted here.

It’s like he outlines his own reasons why he should just release stuff himself but then doesn’t and it’s got to be because then there’s no one to blame

I don't know him personally so I don't know what he'd do.

Of course, but you don’t need to know a person to imagine what they would or wouldn’t do, or what you think they should do or not do, which is exactly what happens here for pages and pages, lol.

Edit: fixed, added ‘don’t’.

don’t think he’s adverse to blaming himself.

The problem is not just the promotion.
Morrissey never got much radio play. After all the fuss about Morrissey's political views, some radio stations here in Portugal stopped playing Morrissey's music and some newspapers stopped mentioning his name.
I heard the song only once here on radio stations in Portugal and just to compare it with "Cemetery Gates".
It's a complete disgrace and also a sign of a lot of ignorance from music journalists. I think unfortunately the same thing happens in other countries. It's a 40-year career and a unique artist in the world that most of the press and radio try to ignore but which, in my opinion, is totally unfair.

Your alternative vision for Morrissey-solo.com kind of kills the chat though. So, I think the site and its moaners are fine the way they are.

of course they are. Lol. Never question why they do what they do, and all is fine.

I wonder what drama will prevent WMTWD from being released?
