Wedding Bell Blues was played earlier today on the Ken Bruce show as a world exclusive.
Digital versions and a YouTube video followed thereafter.
It is reportedly the 22 year anniversary of Laura Nyro's passing today also (thanks Anon for the info).
The radio broadcast and other versions are available in the download section.

FWD.

The Song Is So Good But Without Billie Joe Armstrong ....

I realise we have those who absolutely feel the need to adore everything he releases, but here's a reality check. That's shit, It was shit when it was first released as a song by whatever gobshite felt the need, and age as done the song no favours, or Morrissey come to that, it's beyond bollocks, lift music of the worst order, really not very good at all, I hope he's taking the piss I hope in years to come in autobiography II he admits it was a bet with Boz to see if he could get a positive reaction for absolutely anything they did, and admits this was the worse thing they could come up with. I mean who? what the f*** what are you thinking? are you thinking? and I mean you lot as well as him, get a grip, absolute shite.

o_O

mabye cutting down on the pints is your solution.

Yeah......not so much. First reaction was absolute aversion. I cleansed my ear palate with some other music a few times and came back to it. I liked it slightly better upon repeated play. Won’t be adding it to many playlists, I don’t think. His voice does sound great though so I’m optimistic about other tracks.

I don't get Morrissey choosing this song. I wanted him to do a Brian Wilson. One of the weirder ones. Surfs Up maybe. It's more Los Angeles. Maybe he wants to give a nod to Gay Marriage.

So ol'Mozzer got wed-up with the billie-joe-pop-machination...Woulda done better with Hole....but not billie's!

Was it the pressure to marry him?

I guess maybe next week?
Seems odd to have a 'world exclusive' and then drop it like a hot potato.
I'll stick to my 50's radio dramas.

FWD.

That's interesting, it was on the B list for the last 3 weeks, wonder what the criteria is for moving it to the A List? Personally I think it's a great song and a real change in style for him.

Agree, his voice sounds fabulous but i'm not as keen on this song as the others I have heard from the album. If I saw him play this live, it would probably a good time to get a pint or take a piss. Not sure about the so called collaborations either, its more like Morrissey with backing vocals by Billie Jo Armstrong.

no doubt he will blame every man and his dog for this pointless plod along being a flop, he had a valid point with stuff like "boxers" but not this instantly forgettable shite

Soul music
Reminds me of Kevin Rowland ( a good thing)
And the outro! M's voice morphs into a harmonica (or should that be mouth-organ) at 2.27
He is changing and it's looking good.

When I heard it for the first time, I was disappointed. I've listened to it a few more times since and now it sounds ok but definitely never going to be a favourite. Morrissey's voice sounds great but I think he's picked a really weak song. I can't believe that this has been chosen as the first single - surely Morning Starship would've been a far better choice?? Oh well.
