Is Skinny ok, I can't seem to find his 'thin gruel' comment, you can normally set your watch by it.

Plummeted? Where did LIHS plummet to after reaching the the heady heights of number 5?

It might have dropped out of the top 40 altogether.
But the previous comment about The National is correct. They are a cult heritage-indie band. Yes, they can sell out big venues, and achieve decent album sales in week 1 but no chance of reaching close to 10,000 sales in week 2 (without a big airplay hit). This isn't Coldplay we're talking about here.

Probably because this isn't thin gruel. Morrissey's tying with Taylor Swift and Madonna - two of the world's most successful musical acts ever, on the Radio 2 airplay chart (the biggest radio station in Europe).
Can you imagine the pain that this is causing Pete Skinny?

I reckon having the photo of Fabian when he was filming a surfer movie on Redondo Beach on everything is just soooooo anti-American and Anti-Moz Angeles mate inn nnn n nnn nn nn nn n n nnn nnn n nn n it. I reckon that tiny little "for Brittin" pin that The California Son is wearing has made the mporium uk sales go to a million bucks this week!! Good on ya Kimber m8 in the Rancho Cucamonga office!!

A cover! and hey! not bad for a 60 year old who speaks his mind in this day and age.

And one of my favorites from California Son so far.

The vinyl chart is, as noted, pretty much meaningless - we're talking literally hundreds of sales. And the single being nowhere in the UK Top 100 Singles is pretty much meaningless these days, too - even Madonna's single, which has been all over radio (and it's Madonna, for christ's sake) didn't make the Top 100 Singles. The only way Morrissey could ever make that chart again is when he dies. (And that, presumably, would just be a couple of Smiths tracks!) The album has a real shot of doing well, chart-wise - and (as noted by others here) the first real test of how toxic (or not) his brand has now become in the UK...

‘meaningless’ ?!

The charts are only meaningless if he doesn’t get on it.

;)

Nah. you're overestimating the impact that silly pin has.
Maybe the fact that it will be a covers album and no original songs may have some impact.
And also the fact that he has done and will not do anything to promote it in the UK will impact on sales.
World Peace sold 18,000 in its first week, LIHS 25,000 (with a lot of UK-promotion and a big radio hit).
I'm guessing CS will shift 12,000-18,000 which as you said would mean a nr 1 this week, but could be 2-6 in any other week.

We'll see. The only positive so far about Pingate (we must call it that!) is that it hasn't made the main UK newspapers and BBC news websites, unlike his three PR disasters of late 2017/early 2018. So far, all the music journalists know what he's done, as do the hardcore fans, but the floating voters (of whom there are surprisingly many) may not. We're told there's an interview ready to go. Any more idiotic, toxic political twattishness included in that, and things could blow up properly. I'm guessing the record company might have asked him not to release it if they've seen that it contains more crap about his idiotic views on Annie Walters and For Bigots.

That you are associating Morrissey with three things, Taylor Swift. Madonna. Radio 2. Just goes to show how LOW Morrissey has sunk. With a song he himself didn't write and performs without soul. Grim.

Time for a ‘Best Of’

In the 80s he would be "associated" with Duran Duran, kajagoogoo, bananrama, teardrop explodes........ He's hardly responsible for his competition, that's down to who the media are promoting I'm delighted he's getting some deserved radio play, nothing wrong with that.

It's not all over UK media for the simple reason that it's a non story, only the bullshit brigade are getting their knickers in a twist over this, whilst the rest of us are eagerly awaiting the release of California Son...Viva Moz Forever!!!
