We're getting reports that Steven and his assistant Diesel are currently at Old Trafford holding talks with the Glazer family, it seems that he's seriously considering the vacant role as manager of Manchester United following the sacking of Louis Van Gaal.
Steven had previously been linked with the Lord Mayor of London gig but pulled out at the last minute (as usual).

It does explain why he's no longer part of Riot fest as of today.

Wonder if Diesel will be in charge of the hairdryer treatment.

Obviously Riot Fest is not going to announce an artist unless they feel it is finalized. If you look on the poster, there are several "?????"which indicate a forthcoming announcement.

We all know what the situation is here. This is classic Morrissey being Morrissey. The sort of stuff that just does not happen with other artists/bands. My guess? He most certainly did agree to do the gig, but now he is holding out for some additional contractual concession. Most likely an animal cruelty clause. Which is fine, but he really should have done his homework in advance before signing on. As I said in another thread, there is no way he could/should have assumed this was meat-free affair when he was originally approached.

well, we really don't know yet. But I hope it's true and he does only play if dead animals are not served for ignorant human consumption. Though if he refused to play at venues that continue this barbaric practice,
then he would have less places to play or offered to play.

I agree though mistakes even those with legal consequences do happen but it just seems unlikely. It's got piss of every site publication that will have to retract etc as well as people with plans to go who just be overly annoyed. Very unprofessional on someone's part to say the least

I'd say it is a safe guess that they were not meeting the no flesh demand. I'm glad I didn't buy tickets as planned (Denver is much closer for seeing this misfit reunion). I think at this juncture in time it is on the venue or festival to do due diligence. This has been the law of his land for over 30 years. No meat. If they had no intention of doing it, they should have held off on announcing. Fyf did a special no meat during his time slot/area agreement. Riot fest should consider doing the same.

You know.. responses here are not terrible today. especially not compared to the comments section on Pitchfork and the like.. Benny even seems a bit demure..
