Morrissey Central "Trouble Loves Me" (October 14, 2024)

There were some odd choices of singles during that era.

Trouble Loves Me is a better song than Roy's Keen or Satan.
Agreed. One of the peculiarities about Morrissey is his sometimes baffling choices around which song to leave off albums, which are singles and which are B sides. It does mean that as a fan you sometimes find some hidden gems which is fun.

It's also strange, at least to me, how the Smiths seemingly needed Geoff Travis to point out that This Charming Man was a 'natural' single choice, and likely to be a hit. And then there's the bewildering underrating (apparently by Rough Trade, at least) of How Soon Is Now?

I think 'baffling choices' sometimes extends to political parties, band members (no names), managers (ditto), CD covers 'Smiths Rule OK, countries, support acts and trousers......(and I say this as a fan - it's all part of the rollercoaster, confounding M experience)!......His judgement seems so impeccably on point on certain things and so stupendously wide of the mark on others that its almost like we're being trolled.

What Kind of People Live in These Trousers?

Pah! Yet again, the softie Lefties declare War on Morrissey's Trousers! Regardless of dangerously continental fashion trends, don't these puritanical trouser-signallers realise that an Englishman's/Irishman's trousers are his castle?!? Down with socialist dungarees! I for one would be appaled if only I could spell it correctly.

That website has been a great source of inspiration for these videos.
I was wondering if you actually had a special bat phone to M. You'd pick up and just a song and film title or two would be given.

I think 'baffling choices'...
But if your behavior was studied as closely as Morrissey's has been, wouldn't there also be discrepancies and inconsistencies?

Regrettably, I have no contact with M whatsoever. If he wants to drop into my DMs I would happily take requests.

How does it feel to be noticed though? Is it like a dream?!

Maybe Morrissey and Wine will book you for an interview, as they did with Thomas Frederick? Stand by ;)

It was a big thrill the first time it happened and each time after too yes. It makes me smile. Some years ago I wrote to Morrissey via his then management (I've bored on about this before so sorry) and several months later he wrote a short note back. THAT still feels like a dream.

Especially Satan which to me is the weakest song on the album.

think it’s a fun song and an interesting choice to end the album on. Roy’s Keen is the weakest one I think, but it has its moments.
And though great as b-sides, I would have preferred Heir Apparent and I Can Have Both to be on the album. Also, I never cared for the instrumental break on Ambitious Outsiders.
