Just wondering if anybody knows anyone who has been cancelled before and made a comeback ?
That guy out of kasabian was cancelled due to hitting his girlfriend, was then chucked out of his band and then married said girlfriend and had an album out recently. Other than that, er Gary Glitter? Is he due a comeback yet? 😃

Here's a thing to try (Moz), from the real world of business; it's called Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
For each of the bulleted points in the Central thread (below), ask the question 'Why?' five times...
  • NO RECORD LABEL
  • NO MANAGEMENT
  • NO AIRPLAY
  • NO PRESS SUPPORT
  • NO RELEASES SINCE MARCH 2020
  • NO MEDIA INTEREST IN ‘40 YEARS OF MORRISSEY’ ANNIVERSARY
  • 2021 ALBUM ‘BONFIRE OF TEENAGERS’ CONFISCATED BY CAPITOL RECORDS (LOS ANGELES): NO MEDIA INTEREST.
It's quite a reliable, rigorous, tried & tested form of analysis.

It's really frustrating that he chooses the path he does, a band who does all of the above very well is James (not everyones cup of tea) They release albums regularly (every 2 /3 years) last 4 being with 4 different labels no drama, they just get on with it, they seem to have very good management who get them lots of airplay and TV appearances and they do really interesting gigs, this week alone they are playing t0 25K in Liverpool, 5,5K in Halifax and in between are playing a rescheduled orchestral gig in Leicester to a couple of thousand people. The only person stopping Morrissey doing this sort of thing is Morrissey, it's so f***ing annoying!!

And added to that New Order haven't released an album since 2015, yet can still fill arenas including the O2, so instead of whining, he needs to get off his arse and promote himself, he's got a back catalogue to die for, get rid if the hangers on, get some proper management and cement your place in music royalty, rather than moaning about nothing.

Rant over

Looks 80% sold out to me so doubt he will cancel, I said it the other day, these dates have sold really well apart from New York for some reason, first nights about 70% but the others are between 10 & 20% sold, what's that all about, he's had a number of successful runs in New York?
Well, his poster said « no interest in Morrissey 40 anniversary « , perhaps that was in reference to New York then ?
He has played there so many times, with the 7 nights Boadway residency as the cherry on the cake. Perhaps he is overdoing it, and no doubt competing with many other (great) shows.

I will follow Morrissey into any fight. However sometimes you have to raise your hands or scratch your head and ask do you think it's time to take some of the blame Morrissey?. He is one of the most of influential artists of the last 40 years with an envious back catalogue. If it was any other artist they would be using bodyguards to fend off record company executives. Band members coming and going just as it looks like he has a concrete band. No other solo artist has used the amount of musicians he has used. The question hangs why did Boz leave?. Me personally I think being the indie god he is, he should form his own label and release the ultimate indie album. Two finger salute to those snobs because let's be honest it will sell. if you are reading Moz, DO IT NOW.

I seem to recall a once-bright spark saying: this story is old...but it goes on. Certainly applies here.

Ever the victim, zero accountability for his own actions/behavior.

The credit here goes to the fans who still buy tickets, who are still loyal, and seem fine ignoring his self-inflicted downward spiral.

I'm just grateful he still has fans left.

He hasn't though, he's cancelled himself with his defeatist attitude.
He cancelled himself (i.e. haemorrhaged a huge chunk of his fanbase) by failing to realise that the majority of the people he and The Smiths ever attracted in the first place hate the right-wing politics and toxic arseholes like Tommy Robinson and Nigel Farage he has gone out of his way to endorse or defend. It really is that simple.

Peter,

You will never, ever, ever take responsibility for the consequences of your own actions. Ever.

But let's look on the bright side. Because of everyone else’s quite liking of a Morrissey in their life; he's inevitably an artist of some importance.

However, you love the idea that you ‘the people’ who used to pay him money get satisfaction from being a Judas. And why not?

Tastes good? Nobody ever doubted it would.

Yes, Jesus got himself cancelled, then made a huge comeback around Easter….
But look what happened to him!!!
Hasn’t been seen since.
Still has a few followers, so there is hope
For Bonfire…. Not.

It's fine to be proud about not playing the game, but you can't then complain about the other side refusing to get on the pitch with you. He needs to look at alternative outlets, he's big enough of a draw for that to work but he craves the establishment that he constantly bashes.
