The Smiths' star's children to run Manchester Half Marathon in memory of legendary bassist

Livvy and Frankie Joyce are running this Sunday’s Manchester Half Marathon in memory of The Smiths’ late bassist Andy Rourke

Frankie Joyce was just on the local North West BBC news report after the 5pm main BBC News, filmed at the half marathon, including a little snippet of The Smiths from a Top Of The Pops performance

Oh god, here's yet another one - this time the singer of Chvrches. Relevant paragraph:

The song I secretly like, but tell everyone I hate
I feel like the narrative around Morrissey has caught up with my feelings about the Smiths. His lyric writing is untouchable. But I don’t want to think about him, hear about him, or know any more about him. Everything said about Morrissey comes with a pile of sadness.

Ironic that the Guardian tends to publish its own highly controversial opinions, on occasion (about gender issues or in praise of Tory politicians/policies, for example); and, tellingly, comments aren't opened whenever it does so. The same kind of self-indulgent cowardice that both perennially criticises Morrissey for his highly controversial opinions...while simultaneously & shamelessly using his name as clickbait for features people might not otherwise bother to read.

Even someone as stooopid and slow-to-realise as me should've really understood that Moz was not simply & solely a bookish, shy and mild type of person...ages ago. Morrissey is only disappointing if a person has made him in their own image, so to speak (i.e. 'understood' him through the lens of their own biases and desires/needs/wants). After all, Moz ditched that persona literally decades ago...

James Maker's blog - now searchable.
Couple of small Morrissey mentions that may have escaped notice earlier in the year:
